Anchorage, Alaska - It'll be more money for Alaska, but less money for tourists to spend once they're here. It's part of the ongoing debate over the new head tax for cruise ship passengers, which adds $50 per person to their cruise bill.

Supporters say the money will be used to improve harbor facilities and fund programs to protect the environment. Opponents say the money paid for the head tax is money the tourist will not be spending once they dock in Alaska.

"When cruise visitors come, they still will purchase that cruise, obviously, and pay for it. But our concern is with our shore excursion operators, restaurants and hoteliers....
