ATHENS, Greece, April 6 -- Following previous announcements, Louis Hellenic Cruises wishes to inform that after thorough cross-checking of passenger data, it can confirm that with the exception of the two, previously announced missing passengers, all other passengers and members of crew from MV Sea Diamond are safe. The company's primary concern is to locate the aforementioned two passengers that have yet to be accounted for. Simultaneously, the company is providing every assistance to the remaining passengers so that they can return to their countries of origin under the best possible circumstances.
Despite all efforts conducted by the company and the Greek authorities, unfortunately MV Sea Diamond sank outside Santorini at the early hours of the morning, local Greek time.
MV Sea Diamond was built in 1986 and underwent extensive refurbishment in 1999. She joined Louis Hellenic Cruises' fleet in 2006. The vessel maintained the highest level of safety standards and was equipped with the latest navigation systems.
Louis Hellenic Cruises is in close cooperation with the relevant authorities in Greece in order to fully investigate the causes of this accident. The company wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation to the local authorities for their immediate action and most appreciated assistance.
