image The Navy's refusal to fire an 11-gun salute to honor the arrival of the 1,020-foot-long Explorer of the Seas in New London Harbor Saturday has left supporters of the Connecticut Cruise Ship Task Force feeling queasy — seasick, as a matter of fact.

The task force has spent considerable time and effort wooing cruise ships to New London Harbor and has got a big fish on the line with the arrival of Royal Caribbean's 138,000-ton Explorer of the Seas. It will be the largest ship ever to steam up the Thames River to New London's Adm. Harold E. Shear State Pier.

And the Navy is spoiling the jubilation....
