Is the much-ballyhooed construction of a new generation of cruise ships at NCL on hold? Several cruise industry publications have reported as much in recent days, saying the massive project, code-named F3, has run into trouble.
Industry watcher Seatrade Insider says NCL is in a legal dispute with the Aker shipyard in France over the first of the groundbreaking vessels -- at 150,000 tons, 60% larger than the line's existing ships.
"Sources say the first F3 newbuild is not going ahead," the publication notes. Still, "Seatrade Insider understands that both parties are working toward a resolution," it says....
