Updated Statement - May 16, 2007 Majestic America Line reports that efforts are underway to assess condition of the Empress of the North following her grounding in Alaska on Monday. After an initial inspection of the vessel, the company has announced that it will cancel the ship’s next three departures to allow adequate time for repairs. The sailings affected include:
  • May 19, 2007
  • May 26, 2007
  • June 2, 2007
Majestic America Line already has begun contacting guests with news of the cancelled sailings. Guests scheduled to travel on these dates are being offered the opportunity to move to another Empress of the North 2007 Alaska sailing, as well as reimbursement for all related incidental charges and a 25 percent credit toward a future cruise. Alternatively, the company is offering a full refund for any guest on the affected sailings who choose to cancel their reservations, and will protect travel agent commissions accordingly.
