(MYFOX NATIONAL) - A heterosexual Italian couple is suing a cruise line after finding out that they had been booked on a gay cruise.

The couple who has not been identified claim they didn't know they would be on a ship hosting Italy's first gay cruise, according to the Daily Mail . The Grimaldi Lines cruise sailed from Civitavecchia, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain last month. They are suing for reimbursement of their fare -- around $4,500.

The couple's attorney Antonio Francesconi said that his clients are not homophobic; rather no one told them that the ship would be hosting an all-gay cruise.

"They arrived at the port and saw the ship surrounded by media," Francesconi said. "They thought it was because someone famous was on board, but it was in fact due to the event." - Read More

Ok.. in all honesty, this is a customer service nightmare.. I mean if they truely we not hapy with the cruise the cruiseline should have immediately offered them either a full refund, Or... and i like this better than a full refund, A free cruise at a later date...of their choosing of course.. As for the Gay/Lesbian aspect of it... to each their own i suppose. I personally have had enough of the G/L community keeping the fire going by keeping their agendas in the public eye... I have no desire to know their sexual preferences be they gay or straight... it's simply none of my business. What's more i simply don't care to know their personal preferences.. or anyone elses for that matter... It's like... OK you're gay we get it already.. now go away and play quietly like the other children.... I'm just tired of hearing about it period..

Something sounds fishy here. I'm not familiar with the cruise line in question, but if they follow the norm here, a ship is fully chartered to accommodate Gay/Lesbian guests. Here, there are several organizations that specialize in that Clientele, and while heterosexual couples are not barred from these cruises, the booking agent quite clearly caters to Gay/Lesbian guests. Not knowing the booking procedures, I can't comment about what may - or may not - have occurred that made this couple sue. Either their TA (if there was one) was not forthcoming or the cruise line didn't do their job if the ship might have been chartered.

In today's automated world there is no reason whatsoever (excluding money) for a cruise line not to notify passengers upon booking and give them an option to cancel when there is a large group of any affinitive nature booked especially one so controversial as gay/lesbian which does affect peoples moral values. This just comes down dollars for the cruise lines, no matter which line it is, the bottom line is to fill the ship and if the ship is not chartered then it is open season on the leftovers. You can't stop them from booking but you don't have to join them, that is IF you are given the option.

I agree... in the world of technology we live in today there is no excuse for the cruiseline not alerting the TA(if one was involved)or this couple about the nature of the cruise.. Regardless of the nature of the cruise, if it is themed it should be stated as themed or chartered... With that said... I also have to wonder about the couple in this instance. OK.. i know there are some gay/lesbian families that you wouldn't know were of that preference, But come on.... a whole ship of homosexuals and you didn't notice not one flaming queen or a single butch, mullet wearing lesbian among them??? seriously???? .... do they live under a rock???? I mean a gay cruise for crying our loud.... and no one noticed a flambouyant queen in assless chaps??? come on now.... i don't buy it .. :duh::evil:
