The taxi guys call it... Well 3 days packed with fun adventure and other things came to and end yesterday in the Pot of Vancouver at Canada Place. The taxi guys call it Black Friday. One of three or so fridays that 3 ships are in Port and at Canada Place at once. The Amsterdam (which I was on) The Celebrity Millennium (which i wish I was on now) and the RCL Rhapsody of the Sea's (which I wish to go on someday)

Need less to say it was a busy day for all those folks at Canada Place. Coming and going about 11000 person I was told.

Our personal experience was a get off at nine AM walk uncrowded to an elevator, down two floor to our car and home in and hour 10. New Bridge on freeway over the Fraser River and the Highway widening made it a piece of cake.There is some progress that actually works .

Here is Canada Place as we left the Pier on Tuesday last. A dreary day but it was our last dreary day. What a break we had from the weather.

In Port Alberni which is at the end of the Alberni Inlet on the West Coast of Vancouver Island we had a beautiful dday. It's just great small town in the middle of the island. It is also the home base to the Martin Mars water bombers. We got a demo. I had seen them several times before but always just floating on their home base lake near the town.

Then off we went to Seattle overnight and woke to another pretty nice day.

Back home to Vancouver after a bit of an adventure while docked in Seattle. Another very nice day here.

The ship is a great size. One of the smaller ones that HAL has. Similar to the Zaandam and the Volendam. A magradome for inclement weather over the pool area makes these ships a great choice for Alaska and our coast.
If it gets sunny as it often does they just open them up. Really it does. lol

Here's the ship in Port Alberni. The inlet falls away to the rear. Very narrow about 25 miles long with some great turns. Reminded me of the Inside passage in places going to Ak. The other picture shows the dome with two of the 6 cover pieces rolled inside each other.

Our adventure in Seattle had to do with a power failure. Of course with all the recent incidents that the CArnival Corp has had it caused a great stur. Who needs this kinda experience right? But we were docked and there was no saftey concern except for some Heart Palpitations amongst those that needed elevators and or a flush toilet. The power failed as the ship went from shore power to it's own start up. An unexplained breaker blew. After several hours it was all OK about in the middle of our entre during a delayed dinner (30 min. ) It was warmish in the dining room until the air conditioning returned. We all got a glass of Champagne.
The most interesting point of this whole thing was the fact that all the lights went out in the rooms and insides of course were pitch black. (I found my wife playing a game on the ipad. ) The toilets didn't flush. Only one elevator worked. Halls and public rooms all had lights .All that on Aux. powere. So indeed there was no real saftey issues.
BUT the cash registers worked in all the bars.

We had a nice little visit and I got to show her pictures of Addie and Josie. Her daughter and her little girl was their and little girls middle name is Addie. Her daughter knows my nephews wife at KU Research..

Daw is camping in camp ground they have several couples they have camped with there for several years and their next door neighbor is there. They afre going to race at Lucas Race track in Wheatland tonight. Paw is cooking chicken wings Billy 2 and Ziggy are coming up for din din.

If it warms up we will spend some time on deck. It was only 55 here this morning. I feel for everyone trying to plan week end activities with these big swings in weather.

Was good to talk to Audry yesterday. Hey E hope Red has gotten her share of the cherries this week. Paw brought me a big sack full yesterday. MMMM so good.
