Starboard or aft on Southbound Alaska cruise?

I am a first timer and was wondering which side of the ship is better for the southbound Alaska cruise?

With an aft cabin, you can see both sides at the same time! As fast as your little head can whip around. What cabin did you decide to go with?

I haven't decided for sure yet. After reading everyone's advice on this website though, I have decided not to do the Princess cruisetour which includes Denali and McKinley. I am now checking into cruising Whittier to Vancouver and staying a few days in Vancouver to visit Victoria and Whistler. I am not going until next July, but I'm so glad I found this website for all the helpful information.

I have now booked the Sapphire Princess, Emerald deck, mini-suite 722. Hope I made a good decision. I will cruise from Whittier to Vancouver and stay 4 days in Vancouver (with Princess). This includes 1 day/night in Victoria and 1 free day in Vancouver. I was thinkng about renting a car or taking the train to Whistler. From what I have read, you seem to be the BC expert, so any advise?

I'm nearby but claim to be no expert. Just when you think you got things worked out they change and "Ship" happens.
Glad to help as best I can. The train if you take it up and back does not give you much time in whistler at all. Couple hours I think if I remember off the website. So check that vs a vehicle on your own. The train or the drive is great and especially if the weather is good. They are working on the road for the Olympics (2010) and it gets better as we speak. I assume you are going next season so they should have lots of the work completed.

Its good that you planned a day in Victoria everything over there takes time to get to/ and back because of the ferry.
