Re: Cruising on Monarch of the Seas

    Ali,

We did fill out the our online documents, but I haven't printed them out yet. I figure we'll do that when the time gets closer. I'm glad there's a pier pick up for documents (I assume it's like will call for tickets at a sporting event).
What makes the Monarch so special for you? Did you sail on her when she was doing the Caribbean trips? I'd really like to know as much as possible about this trip.

    Thanks,
    Allie

Re: Cruising on Monarch of the Seas

I sailed on the Monarch 10 times when it was doing the southern Caribbean route. I'm a creature of habit. Find a ship and ports that I like and can't seem to find another one. When the Monarch left the southern route I turned my sailing to the Adventure...now I seem to be stuck on that one. :lol

I have many, many crew friends who still work on the Monarch and for that reason it was like "home week" for me when I did sail on that ship. A majority of the crew have stayed together since the ship was new and even when the ship was transfered to the West coast making it more difficult for some of them to visit their families weekly. The ship has changed so much since I last sailed it in 2001. I have seen pictures of the improvements and they did such a wonderful job.

The cabins are small unless you take a suite. We actually did fit 4 women in an outside cabin, but that was the last time we ever did that. In fact we aren't speaking to one of them after that trip....too close for comfort. :lol

Don't worry about your docs if you don't receive them. As long as you have your online documents printed out you won't have a problem.

    Have a great trip!

Re: Cruising on Monarch of the Seas

    hello,

I have just read through all the messages in this post, and would like to join in. My family is going on it's first cruise in October. We're going on the Monarch of the Seas (4 nights). We have two teenage daughters who are wondering if there are many teens on the cruises. They are hoping so, for the social aspect. Also, if you have any tips to pass on to my girls as far as making the most of their trip, I'd appreciate it.

One more thing (well, I have a lot of questions, but I'll stop after this one for now). In Ensenada, is there a beach nearby that we could go to or is that not recommended?

Ali, Wow, it really sounds like a great ship...I'm even more excited than I was about going on the ship. We are creatures of habit also, which is probably why we haven't ventured out to try a cruise yet. Maybe we'll venture out of state one day and try the Adventure. This is a budgte trip for us so we'll be staying in an inside cabin. There is only two of us and I hope to God we're still speaking after the cruise. If you think of anything else, please pass along the info. You obviously know the ship!

Gumballz, I haven't been on the ship yet, but I assume there are lots of teens who travel on it. There seems to be a pluthera of activities designed for them. I doubt there would be so many activities if they didn't make up a large portion of the population.

I will let you know if there is a clean beach in Ensenada when I get back. I don't really expect to find one there, it's close to TJ. In San Diego, the white sand beach at Coronado is absolutely beautiful.

Re: Cruising on Monarch of the Seas

I am on that cruise, along with my younger husband but he is a blast... I am 39 and he is 28 yea for me ;) my 13 year old son is coming along with my Brother and his wife and her 14 year old son. Cant wait how fun...I hope to meet up with some of the people who are posting I think that would be super cool, my brother is so excited he has never been on a cruise, he went and bought a new suit today :). I have been on 4 others but never with Royal although just found out last Monday we are pregnant and I will be drinking my cranberry juice in a wine glass :) I am still really excited, I guess I will have to get a soda card. I think the only vacation unless we are camping with our two dogs, or at our cabin in the mountains which are totally different types of vacation, is cruising, it is the most fun ever at least I think. I have never been to Catalina and I am excited about that. just days away!!!!!!!!!
