Stormy, steamy weather continues for the East

Northeast

* Showers & thunderstorms expected for much of the region

* Some severe storms are possible in the Mid-Atlantic

* Hotter than average temperatures are expected in the Mid-Atlantic

* Highs will range from the 70s along the New England Coast and in western New York to the 90s along the Mid-Atlantic Coast

South

* Storms are possible across much of the Southeast by tonight

* Some severe storms are possible in Virginia, the Carolinas, and the Tennessee Valley

* Hotter than average temperatures are expected along the Southeast Atlantic Coast, including Florida

* A few record highs may be threatened for the Southeast Coast

* Highs will range from the 80s in the Southern Appalachians to the 100s in the Southern Plains and parts of the Carolinas and eastern Virginia

West

* Storms are possible in the Rockies and much of the Central and Southern High Plains

* Warmer than average temperatures are expected in the Rockies & High Plains

* Cooler than average temperatures are expected along the West Coast

* Highs will range from the 60s along the Northern California and Pacific Northwest Coast to the 110s in the deserts of southeastern California and southwestern Arizona

Midwest

* Showers & storms are possible near the Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley

* Some severe storms are possible in the Ohio Valley

* Storms (a few severe) are possible by tonight in South Dakota & Nebraska

* Hotter than average temperatures are expected from the Central Plains through the Ozarks into the Ohio Valley

* A few record highs may be threatened in the Ozarks and Ohio Valley

* Highs will range from the 70s from northern Minnesota through northern Michigan to the 100s from southern Kansas through Southern Missouri
