Re: Maw's Office Ramble
Good Morning all. I have been really busy at work. At my mortuary it seems it is always out straight or very quiet. I can't keep up and then I had close of month also. It has been wild and I may if we get even one more call have to go in on Monday. I really don't mind.
My house is a tornado wreck. I have to concentrate on getting it cleaned today along with my errands. I have been too pooped to pop at night.
Laundry is overflowing and I need to get groceries.
My books have arrived but I don't dare pick one up until I get this house back in order.
Everyone in the possible path of the hurricane take good precautions and hunker down or get out!
Have a good day everyone I'm off to start spinning!

Re: Maw's Office Ramble
Good morning Maw and the rest of the ramble gang! I hope you're all having a nice holiday weekend. We're going to a cookout at my cousin's house about an hour away. Just a little get together with a few cousins who I don't see very often. Tomorrow we'll pick up my son and his kids and bring them over to our house so we can play with the grandkids. Roy had the brilliant idea that they should stay over night. This will be a good experience for the little ones since they've never stayed overnight and will have to stay with us in October when their parents go out of town for a wedding. I still have to clean my house - will do so tonight. The weather is beautiful and I'm enjoying the end of summer. Yesterday I worked big time in my courtyard garden. Repair workers will be fixing the brick next month and I wanted to cut and prune everything so they can access the brick walls. I pulled out all the flox and moved some of the black eyed susans - they are gigantic this year. Too much to do - toodles for now!

Re: Maw's Office Ramble
Maw, I agree, an escape sounds great. Leon has had that summer respiratory crud this week, so he has been miserable with all the coughing. Yesterday he got up on a step-stool in the kitchen and when he stepped down, he fell and put his head through a cabinet door. His head is unhurt (of course) but he has lots of arm and hip scrapes. The moral to the story is "Keep clutter out of the kitchen", but he wants everything he might need out in the open and available. I have clutter everywhere else, but I want the kitchen to be un-cluttered. It's safer that way. So, today I'm fixing the cabinet door and getting unnecessary stuff out of the way. Your plans sound like MUCH more fun! I have also made up my mind that next week will be LOTS better at work. It has been a busy time this last week with the food poisoning situation at Locust Grove. We're up to almost 100 patients affected, so it has been interesting, to say the least. Play safe, everyone!

Re: Maw's Office Ramble
Good evening, ramblers. It's been a good day for us. The weather was nice, so we went for a walk downtown and also did some shopping. DH bought a book by a writer we met on our recent Ryndam cruise. He's kept in touch with him -- one of the nice things we enjoy about cruising. I finally found the pair of workout shoes my trainer suggested.
Speaking of workouts, I am a little sore from my last session. I am starting to lift heavier weights and using the barbell rather than one smaller weight in each hand. The walk helped, but I took a nap after returning home and am a little stiff again. Time to hit the Advil, I think.
Nothing is really planned for the next two days of our Holiday weekend. We still have a lot to do around the house, as we really haven't been here for about a month, between the cruise and the bathroom renovations. I do hope to get my review completed, but will play it all by ear. Also planning a quick winter getaway as I have some vacation time I need to use before the end of the year, so we're thinking of flying to either Toronto or Halifax on Christmas for a few days.
Have a great evening, all. Prayers go to all in need, with special thoughts for those in the path of Gustav. Corky, I also send hugs to you and Molly.

Re: Maw's Office Ramble
Thank you, Lisa63. =hug
Oh - I too moved up to heavier weights last week at the gym...from 3 lbs to 5 lbs and let me tell you, there is a huge difference. Mine are 5 lbs on two bars used in a glass called Group Active. I have always had a lot of muscle power in my legs, but my arms are weak, so I really hope to build them up. Good luck with your new weights. :)
