South
* Showers & storms are possible for much of the region today and tonight
* Locally heavy rainfall is possible, especially along the Gulf Coast
* Cooler than average temperatures are expected for much of the region
* Highs will range from the 70s in the Southern Appalachians to the mid 90s in South Texas
Northeast
* Some showers & storms are possible today in the Central Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic
* Showers & storms spread northward into southern parts of New York tonight
* Near or slightly cooler than average temperatures are expected today
* Highs will mostly be in the 70s & 80s
West
* Showers & storms are possible from the Four Corners northward into the Northern Rockies
* Some storms are possible in the Sierra Nevada Mountains this afternoon
* Hotter than average temperatures continue in the interior Northwest
Highs will range from the 60s to the 100s
Midwest
* Some showers and storms are possible in the Upper Mississippi Valley
* Showers & storms are also possible for the western & central Great Lakes
* Cooler than average temperatures are expected today
* Some spots from the Central Plains to the Ohio Valley should threaten record lows this morning
* Some record lows may be threatened tonight in the Central Plains
* Highs today will mostly be in the 70s & 80s
