you're in my prayers and thoughts, Cricket

-- I'm with Shipmaven, and have heard the same advice -- try to stay AHEAD of the pain.

I can relate to post-op nausea, etc... , it's still fresh in my mind although mine was over a year ago. Can they use local anesthia? I found it personally easier to recover from that than general.

Hucc - to the best of my knowledge, they can't use only local anesthesia for this procedure. Mine was in two steps - and I don't know if it was simply my surgeon (who's a stickler for caution). First a spinal epidural to numb the leg(s) and then general anesthesia.

I don't know much about the knee replacement surgery, just what my PT DIL tells me, rehab is the key. The more regular you are with you exercizes the better it goes. That is why I don't think I will be able to have it, because of my spinal cord damage, I don'w know if I can do the exercizes. They tell me I am a bad risk, anyway.

A few years ago I had my radial head removed in my left arm. Talk about scared, that is part of your elbow! But, the anesthesioligist did a nerve block in my arm right before surgery, and I had only a tiny bit of pain afterwards. It was amazing. I would do that again if I needed to. I don't know if they do that for knees, but it would be worth asking, it really worked.

Hope it all goes well, post when you can, hugs,cc
