Ernesto Re-Routing Ships
Hi
The below is from USA Today
Tropical Storm Ernesto scatters ships in Western Caribbean
By Gene Sloan, USA TODAY Updated 2h 36m ago
A growing Tropical Storm Ernesto has forced nearly half a dozen cruise ships heading to the Western Caribbean to alter course.
The 2.974-passenger Carnival Freedom, which departed Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, will visit Ocho Rios, Jamaica on Wednesday instead of Thursday. The original call scheduled for Wednesday, at Grand Cayman, may be pushed back to Thursday, but the plans remain tentative, the line says.
The 2,124-passenger Carnival Legend, which departed Tampa on Sunday, will skip scheduled calls this week in Belize and Mahogany Bay, Honduras and instead visit Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The 3,690-passenger Carnival Magic, which departed Galveston, Texas on Sunday, is diverting away from its scheduled itinerary to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico. A new itinerary will be announced today and will include Nassau in the Bahamas and either Cozumel or Freeport, Bahamas, plus an extra day at sea.
A fourth Carnival ship, the 2,758-passenger Carnival Triumph, is reversing the order of two calls in Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico scheduled for today and Tuesday, and the Disney Cruise Line's 2,500-passenger Disney Fantasy is sailing to the Eastern Caribbean for the week instead of the Western Caribbean.
As of 8 am ET, Ernesto was 380 miles east of Roatan, Honduras and moving to the west at about 12 miles per hour. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour.
A hurricane watch has been issued for the east coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula from Chetumal northward to Punta Gruesa.
The National Hurricane Center says the storm is likely to strengthen over the next 36 to 48 hours as it approaches the coast of Belize.

Re: Ernesto Re-Routing Ships
I can't believe they are repeating these storm names so soon. Ernesto and Florence were names used back when we had our ABBBA cruise to Bermuda. "oh no here comes flo". Who remembers that?

If I remember correctly, they are repeated every 5 years.

Re: Ernesto Re-Routing Ships
Wonder how many passengers will complain that they are going to the ports that they wanted to go to?
Cruising is a wonderful way to enjoy retirement.
