How many people can stay in one cabin question

    Hello all
I have a dumb question but I know someone here knows the answer.
How many people are allowed to stay in one cabin and what size would it be( category?)
I have a family of 5 who may go with us on our next cruise but we need to know what size cabin they will have to book.It will be on the Carnival Elation.
    Thanks
    Karen

The regular cabins are made for four at the most. Some suites have twin beds that convert to king and a double convertible sofa. I am not positive that they will allow 5 per cabin. Rollaways are available. I have been told that the Coast Guard limits the number of rollaways to be certain the ship does not exceed capacity.

Good answer by Darlend as the type of cabin would be the determining factor. Some Family suites can have 8 people in them. :thumb

    thanks Darlene and Einstein,
I knew there were knowledgeable people on the board.
Gotta figure out how they can all go- may have to put one of the girls in a cabin with us.
Will have to check to see if they have the family suites you talked about.
    Thanks Again

On the Carnival site, when booking a cruise, they ask how many people in the cabin 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 so they must have cabins they allow 5 in.

Not all cruiselines have rollaways either. If when booking the cabin says "quad", I would assume that is the maximum.

Also, if you have a question about a particular cruiseline, ask a specialist in that cruiseline. A friend of mine was going to put a third person in her cabin on a Princess ship and her online agency said they'd bring a rollaway. Not so on Princess. She needed to get a cabin that would sleep 3.

If you are going on the Elation, you CAN have 5 in a cabin. It is like described in some of the above posts. The twin/queen with 2 uppers and a roll-away. The Cat 12 suites on the Elation will also accomodate 5. The twin/king with double sleeper sofa and a roll-away.

I think it's RCCL that has family suites on some ships. I've seen them on their website. I think that is configured as twin/queen, single convertible sofa and then an upper/lower off to the side. I'm not positive on that one..... or which ships. Also, RCCL offers adjoining rooms that might work.

Cruising with 5 on the Ecstasy in August. It is a sister ship to the Elation. We have 5 in the cat. 12. Maybe in a year or two the kids can be seperate from Mom and Dad.... not this year. ;)
