This was a post that I made to a thread on the aft deck board in response to some discussion over gif testing and the possibility of creating an area for testing gifs. The viability of it is being considered but there are many other issues to get cleared up as is obvious. There are some other important issues that I didn't want lost in the event that we are up and running again on this forum and the aft deck becomes un-needed.
I will be redoing the FAQ section to reflect some of the new changes and will address the issue of gifs, clocks and testing a little more completely so that we can deal with this in a manner that is ecologically beneficial to both individuals and the forums.
BTW, 80% of the current problems with the clocks is on the escati website, not Cruise @ddicts

A graphic can be uploaded from basicly any location as they go into a database storage area that they can then be retrieved from. This is why your signature gifs will show up no matter which board you post on, they are being called out of a central database.
This also creates an issue that would generate problems with auto deletion since if any post that has an attachment is deleted the link to the attachment is destroyed as well and the attachment becomes inaccessable.
Solution: Go to older pages to attach, then go to a testing area to get your code down an make sure it is going to show up the way you want it. Just a little way to help keep the front pages a little cleaner and organized looking.
While on the subject.............

PLEASE

Do not use the cruise lines or ports boards to do your attaching or testing!!
that type of post in those areas will probably be deleted at some point in time
and if you have done an attachment it will create the red x the minute the post
is deleted
