    Ship to replace the Miracle?

Hi gang. My memory is worthless these days. So someone help me remember...

I was reading something, maybe a month or so ago, about Carnival planning to replace the Miracle with a different ship, for sailings out of New York. (I hope I'm remembering this right.) Anyway, I'm trying to remember what ship that was going to be, and when? Anyone have any idea?

Hey Gayle!! The Carnival Splendor will be replacing the Miracle in New York. On Feb 03, 2013 the Splendor will depart from Long Beach on a 48 day journey around South America arriving in New York on March 23rd. That journey is available in segments of 18, 17, & 13 days. On March 23rd, 2013 the Splendor will take over the Miracles current 8 day Bahamas, Eastern, and Exotic Eastern itineraries. The Miracle will leave New York for the last time on March 16 for a 15 day cruise thru the Panama Canal ending up in Long Beach. There she will take over the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii, and Alaskan cruises from the Carnival Spirit which will head to Australia in October.

I know that Karry is booked on the Splendor from New York next May, and we will be on her next August.

Re: Ship to replace the Miracle?

Thanks Jamman. Now I can look into the itineraries for the Splendor. We loved the Miracle, and. especially liked the eight day itineraries. But three times on the same ship was enough, so I was thrilled with the news that a new ship would be doing those 8-day runs.

[With continuous eight day itineraries, it works out that some of the cruises only use one weekend (ie: leave Tuesday, return the following Wednesday) That way hubby has to only miss one weekend of work. Weekends are his busiest days].

We also love the 8 day itineraries. We love having two sea days down, and two sea days back. We're ready for a new ship too, after having the Legend here for 4 years, then the Miracle for 5 years. But since I love the Spirit Class ships the most, I will miss them. With the Carnival Pride in Baltimore, I still can get my fix. Good luck with your planning.

I guess I am one of the few who is not looking forward to the Splendor coming to New York. I really do not like this class of ship and probably will not be taking any cruises on her. However I will be on the Miracle's last round trip New York City cruise on March 6. Instead of an 8 day cruise they extended it to 10 glorious days on the Miracle! Love the ship and love the itinerary!

Re: Ship to replace the Miracle?

We have been sailing Miracle for the past few years out of Manhattan. Due to DH's unforseen dental expenses, we had to cancel our cruise on her last May. We went to book her for next May and realized that the Splendor would be replacing her. We are sad to see her go, and like Jamman, we love the spirit class ships, but we have been on the Miracle 3x and never on the Splendor, so we are kind of excited to be going on a "new ship." We are kind of going back and forth with trying to decide whether to book the Miracle for November. The rates are so cheap and we have friends in Cocoa Beach we would love to visit for the day...so we'll see! I would love to drive down to Baltimore when the Yankees are playing the Orioles, catch a game at beautiful Camden Yards, then hop on the Pride!

I envy you David. Wish there was a way we could swing that 10 Day cruise, or better yet stay onboard for the repo for a 25 Day Back to Back!!

Oh my goodness. 25 days sounds like heaven, but it's all we can do to get eight days away. Like Jamman, the ten days is out of the question for us also.

BTW, I can echo everyone sentiments about the Miracle being in our favorite class of ships. And not being as enamored of the Victory class, I'm hoping the Splendor isn't too much like those. No matter, it would be nice to cruise a different class.

The Splendor is really in a class by itself, though she is a very close relative to the Conquest Class. The difference is really in the upper decks starting with the Lido deck. The sliding glass dome is over the mid ship pool as opposed to the aft pool on the Conquest Class, and there is no tiered seating either. The Aft Pool is completely open to the weather. Serenity and the Steakhouse are in different locations than the Conquest Class also. Everything else is pretty much the same.

I actually priced out the 15 day repo cruise just for fun. The price for that cruise is more than double what I am paying for the 10 day cruise! I can only assume it's extremely popular and must be close to selling out. Meanwhile the price keeps dropping on my 10 day cruise so no 25 days at sea for me.

It's going to be such a sad day to see the Miracle leave New York.
