The christening ceremony was typical over-the-top-with-wonder-and-excitement like only Disney can do.

I started off the day wishing I had just gotten in the car and taken a drive over to Port Canaveral to see it all. #As the ceremony started and got going I was glad I didn’t. #I’m such a sucker for Disneyesque extravaganzas. #I’d have been a blubbering idiot had I been that close to the action. #Streaming video feeds and our local news covering the event live on every channel didn’t help much either.

Someone asked me during the show how the Disney Dream launch compared to Allure of the Seas. #That’s kind of like comparing really nice Apples to really nice Oranges. #They’re both good but I like Oranges better. #Oranges being Disney.

I’ll have to wait until Friday when we’re aboard Disney Dream to answer the big question, although I have a pretty good idea how it will go. #Someone asked “How do you think Dreamworks on Royal Caribbean #and Nickelodeon on Norwegian will compare to Disney on Disney?” #I think the questions answers itself personally but I have an open mind, have seen the others but not seen the onboard product of Disney.

If what I could see from here, if what I hear from trusted sources sailing now, if what I know Disney is capable of turns out to be reality on board, this one will could totally dominate the family-cruising segment of the cruise industry…at least for those families that can afford the premium price. #We’ll see. #We’ll tweet. #We’ll report. #We’re not getting a free ride on this. #We’re not obligated to say, do, watch, hear or interpret anything other that what is actually happening.

Yep, I have high hopes. #And in the same breath I say I have high standards for Disney too. #This ship has a life-long reputation of wonder to live up to. #They are their own tough act to follow. # Talk about branding? #Sheesh, these people literally wrote the book on that. # #I have a good feeling about this. #Much like I had on our #FollowMeAtSea trip to Alaska with Princess Cruises. #They had that whole Love Boat thing down and then some but yet blew us away with what? #Quality. #Enduring quality. # #Should be a good ride; come along won’t you?
