Re: Hotels already sold out?
Ok, we're booked at the Doubletree on Canal street. Supposedly the beds are open framed, so We'll keep our fingers crossed. We just may need to run by there in November to check it out.

Re: Hotels already sold out?
Are they really booking up already? I guess I should look around again. We haven't booked anything yet. I did look at the site for that Maison Dupuy that Terry mentioned, and it looks really nice in the photos. Price is a bit steep for th Friday night, but not as bad as a few other hotels that I liked. (We are staying only Thursday and Friday nights). I showed it to hubby and we're still talking about it.

I am still looking at some of the b & b hotels in the French quarter. They have said to check back in June.

You forgot about the snoring...

I promise to close my eyes as soon as I open the hotel location thread...
Remember the most important hotel information; to note if there are any poles in the hotel or rooms!
As we will have a pre cruise stay of two to three weeks in different areas of the US before the cruise we might have to consider staying in a tent.

Re: Hotels already sold out?
I think it's too early to book something so don't fret if you don't have something lined up. When doing a search, "sold out" can mean that they aren't open for bookings yet.
Cruizer - the odds of a large chartered group taking over a ship out of New Orleans is very small. Many times they deep discount the cruises out of this port and their are more locals onboard than those from a far. That has been my experience. I wouldn't be suprised if the prices start dropping for our sailing this fall. But I get your point - it's good advice not to do a pre-pay stay this early out without travel insurance in place.
Odds are I'll book a cancelable reservation and then use Priceline a month out.

Re: Hotels already sold out?
Maureen, i never even thought about securing a room early then try for a better deal with Priceline closer to the date. Thanks.

I agree totally on the NO Pre Pay unless its FULLY refundable and a Gr8 price.
