Weather in NOLA in March?

Is anyone here familiar with New Orleans enough to hazard a guess about what kind of weather we're going to see?

I'm looking around at hotel sites and wondering if it's a waste of time to stay with ones that have a pool. Is it likely, or not, that the pool would be open? .....I really don't want to book room that looks out on a courtyard, if all there is to see there is a black tarp covered pool.
