HAL How much wine are you allowed in your carryon?

It's been a few years now since we've been on a HAL cruise. We vaguely remember you are allowed to bring wine aboard ship. Is this still true and how much is allowed?
Since we will be on a B2B and will be driving to Tampa it would make sense to bring as many bottles as we are allowed for each cruise.

HAL Re: How much wine are you allowed in your carryon?

It's been several years since we did it, but we used to bring a case of champagne with us without any problem.

We've gotten to the point where we don't bother anymore because we don't drink much in the cabin.

According to HAL's web site, "Except for wine and champagne, alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel's shops or otherwise brought on the ship cannot be consumed on the ship. Bottles and other containers will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the voyage.

A corkage fee of US$18.00 applies to wine and champagne brought to the restaurants or bars for consumption.

Room Service offers reduced-price stateroom beverage packages for in-stateroom consumption of alcoholic beverages.

    I hope this helps.

There is no limit as to the number of bottles of wine and champagne that you can take onto a HAL ship.

I have seen people take on 2 and 3 cases of wine.

The $18 corkage fee applies only to bottles that you take to the dining room or to a bar/lounge.

If you forget your own corkscrew and there isn't one in your cabin -- ask your cabin steward for one. Same with wine glasses -- if there aren't any in your cabin -- ask your cabin steward for them.

HAL I think is too generous in the amount of wine and champagne that they allow people to bring on board.

If HAL would limit the number of bottles -- then they could lower the price of bottles of wine on the ship.

Totally agree on the price Yonnie. Probably will get one of the wine packages with the 4* Mariner discount as at least with the 50% off the price is palatable. Keith & Rita make sure U hit up Total Wine before boarding and bring your airport dolly to strap it on.

No stinkin' airport for us! We just want to carry on a few bottles of our French Lick wine for our almost 2 week stay in our cabin. We generally purchase a wine package, however not sure how that works with this new fangle 'anytime dining'!
    Thanks everyone for your help!

If U go the wine package route it should NOT be a problem. Last year the bottle followed us anywhere we chose to eat and that even included the Canaletto upstairs in the Lido buffet area.

The Wine Steward puts your name and cabin number on any bottle of wine that you do not finish in an evening.

99% of the time the wine stewards have no problems finding the stored bottles.
