Re: World's largest cruise ship rocked by 'extreme' seas in North Atlantic

This reminds me of our pre-inaugural crossing on Crystal Symphony in 1995 - storm after storm after storm the entire crossing. Only, a select group of passengers were aboard, I being one of them. Symphony, miniscule in comparison to this behemoth, handled to up-to 60 ft. waves and some rouge waves extremely well, though we were 24 hours late for our maiden arrival ceremonies in New York.

Legend of the Seas, crossing at the same time, suffered severe damage.

Jeanie - there was a 72 hour period when our Captain (Helge Brudvik) would not leave the Bridge, not even for a cat-nap., because the seas were so bad. None of the production shows could be performed, so some of the entertainers ad-libbed. We were brought behind-the-scenes of some shows to learn about their history. Those of us passengers became like family.

Well, think of being twelve hours late, then multiply that by two.

We had 30 knot cross winds and 30 foot swells on Explorer of the Seas a few years ago and it was rockin' and rollin'. I couldn't imagine 60 footers. Glad to hear the ship is handeling so well.
