A little dissapointed in RCCL customer service...

    I am so looking forward to my upcoming cruise in may ,, and my very first cruise with RCI,,, and in no way is this going to ruin my vacation, and isnt that big of an issue,,,, however i had asked a ques on this board to find out if bathrobes were availble for use during the cruise, as they had been on princess and carnival,, and got several replies, none of which coincided with the other... so i decided id call rccl.... heres what i got from them as well...

    1. yes there are bathrobes for use during the cruise
    2. no only for royal suite and ownerssuite
    3. yes they are already in your cabin when you arrive along with your towels
    4. no , but you can tip your cabin steward and he may be able to get them for you
    5. no but you can rent them from the royal ammenities department.... so i called that dept..
    6. NO , you cant rent the, but buy them and take them home with you
    7. yes but only 1 for the persons whose name the cabin was booked under
    8. yes but only for crown and anchor memebers
    9. NO they no longer offer bathrobes to only for Junior suite or above...

    Want to hear the funny part,,, i got ALL these answers in the same day.. speaking to 9 different reps....

    So i figured why not make it 10... and heres the last answer i got.....

    10. A " Voyager of the Seas Specialist" came on to assist me ... they do not have any bathrobes on any ships anymore....

    Gotta love it

    It sounds like they need to sit down and figure out what is really on thier ships. That is amazing that you got 10 different answers in the same day.

    i think ill call again since there has been no definitve answer.... :) got nothing better to do for the next 30 days :)

    Here's a thought..just keep calling them until you get the answer you want to hear.

    You asked the question on several of the forums here and we posted answers as to our own experiences. Just wait until you get onboard to see if there is a bathrobe in your cabin. If there isn't ask the steward if they are available. What's the big deal anyway with the robe? It's not a perk for the regular cabins to begin with. They are for the suites and the C & A Platinum and Diamond Members.

    Becuase its an important perk for my cruising companion whos never had one,,, and i have always had one on all of my other cruises with princess and carnival,,, and we have a balcony cabin not an inside or and ocean view,.... also if i end up buying one thats going to determine wether im bringing an extra bag or not.... its not that big of a deal ,, accept for the fact that the 2 other cruiselines ive cruised with have always offered them for all balcony cabin passengers, and i was very much looking forward to sitting in mine in the am drinking coffee on the balcony,, without having to get dressed before im even in the shower... :)

    11. you can order them from royal ammenities to be delivered to your state room at no additional charge,,, they transfered me to the Roy Amm dept,,, and no such luck with purchasing them prior to your cruise...

    At this point I would just bribe your room steward into getting you one or two.

    Thanks for tying up customer service for everyone else. I agree with Ali, just wait till you get to the ship.

    Ok, I don't want to sound argumentative or anything and please don't spam me later for this but:

    We are talking about a bathrobe right?. I mean. A bathrobe?. Your cruise experience can be marred by a bathrobe? I can understand if they discontinue Icecream but a bathrobe?. Sorry this one is hard for me to fathom.

    Like I said, I am not trying to start an argument but..When I cruise, I am having so much fun, I don't think I would notice if they forgot to put sheets on my bed. Now maybe if they forgot the towels..



    A Bathrobe?

    On our last cruise with RCI when we got to our stateroom our room attendent asked if there was anything we needed. I said I heard we could get robes. He went and got me one right away. Maybe you can try this. Enjoy your cruise.

    I also have found RCCL phone reps to be a little bit inconsistent but it sounds like a training issue. It is my understanding the other lines have similar issues.

    I agree, the stewards will try to get the robes for you. I remember one time we ran out of towels. I was in the bathroom and I was yelling to my friend that we were out of towels. It was one of those situations where I had to repeat it a couple of times. ("Huh? What?" ) Before we even had time to write a note or make a call, within two minutes, there was a knock on the door, and voila, our steward had some towels. Boy, those walls must be thin. We watched what we said after that. LOL. So, moral of the story, if you say "Yooo hoo, do you know where the robes are?" to your cabin mate (don't use your indoor voice), chances are they might just show up. LOL.

    sailingrose,,, i dont know wether to take your comment in jest or in negativity,,, the first two sentences of my post were its not that big of a deal ,and wasnt going to ruin a vacation,, i then posted again, its not that big a deal even further down... it was just something i thought was pretty comical that you call the smae company get 10 diff people and every answer is different, i wasnt annoyed or aggrivated at all...


    Rshreib,,, yup just a simpple post about a bathrobe,,, no my vacation will not be marred i simply just had nothing else to do today,,, :) this is my best friends first realy cruise more than 3 nights, and she is having surgery today,,, every time weve ever gone any where meaning orlando,, or virginia,, we always stay in moderate hotels... so she is really looking forward to relaxing and being pampered,, and spending her bonus check at the spa... i am just so happy that she came out of surgery today and all is well..... shes never been on more than a 3 day anything, and this is also her 35th bday,,, so she was really excited at the vision of sitting in bathrobes in a balcony cabin ( she never had that before either), and sipping coffee in the morning, She had seen all my pics of the princess cruise, and just thought it was the PICTURE of vacation, not a care in the world, coffe, bathrobes, and the sea with the sunrising,,,

    I would be more than happy to purchase one for her, if there arent any available but bathrobes for purchase are a little on the pricey side, and though i am not being cheap by any means, i know that i can get nicer ones here at home for less... But if it takes 10 calls to try to give my best friend of 13 years the vacation of her life, then i dont mind making the calls,,, will it kill her not to have a bathrobe...
    ofcourse not,,,, but shes been through alot this year, and id like this vaca to be speical for her

    My post wasnt meant to be derogatory. I actually found it refreshing and encouraging that the only thing you can find wrong was an elusive bathrobe. As for me, on a private balcony out in the middle of the ocean..... Who needs a robe ):eek:

    LOL , i didnt think your post rshreib was derogatory, i just wanted to answer you so that i could explian why the bathrobe was important to me,,, not so important as to dwell on it , although i did find it funny that rccl has so many diff answers for one really simple question,, its not like i called and asked, what specific brand of pepper do you use while cooking :)

    perhaps that "specialist" would have told me, we no longer use pepper on any of the ships,,, infact we stopped serving meals all together :) lol


    i wasnt bashing rccl i just thought it was comical,,, im still not sure wether sailingroses post was in jest or not,,, but oh well....

    I know it can be frustrating when you can't get a straight answer. If you call RCCL, you can never be sure the answer you get is the right one. I, too, have gotten different answers to the same question depending on the time of day or the person. Talk to 3 different people, 3 different answers. I don't understand why they don't have a "standard" answer sheet to all questions. How can it be different? Then, when you post your response people have to tell you what they were told and act like they don't believe you. RCCL, wake up and train your customer service reps. a little. You are my favorite line and I hate to hear complaints about you. Even my ta says she can't get the same answer twice!

    i placed my order today for the bathrobes and slippers, and wine,,, i figured she's be real suprised to see all that stuff in the state room when we got there, there would be no dissapointment, and the bathrobes would be brand spanking new,,,, thanks to all your replies i figured i would just break down and buy them which im sure is what rccl would rather have me do any way :) hehe....

    i am so excited i just cant wait !!!!

    I have found no matter what cruise line I have called and asked a question to a rep, that I myself had a better understanding of what goes on onboard the ships than they did :grin I found this to be true of not one, but several cruise lines including Princess and RCI ......etc........ The reps in most cases have never been on a cruise and there are just questions that they can not answer. I can tell you that Ali as well as others are right in that RCI provides robes to the upper level suites and to Platinum and Diamond........ Crown and Anchor members. That being said, Ali as well as others also mentioned that if you ask your cabin steward if they could get you a couple of robes to use while onboard as long as there are some available they will get them for you, no problem :thumb Amenities are different from cruise line to cruise line I just go with the flow and enjoy each new experience :) There are things that I like about each cruise line that we have sailed on and each cruise has been different even on the same cruise line. You will find things on RCI that you didn't on Princess and vise versa. Any way most of the time I find asking a question here on the boards gets me a better ( more acurate) answer than calling the cruise line =shrug Now that you are buying robes you won't have to wonder who was right 1-11 on the RCI phone line, but I can tell you that what we have said is correct and based on many cruises and years sailing on RCI. So did you buy the terry cloth robes or the waffle kind??? I prefer the waffle kind :thumb
