Calling all Cancer Kids

Well, got some rotten news this past week. Seems those insatiable critters have returned to roost somewhere in my body again. I have undergone all the tests and I'm just treading water here until I visit my oncologist with the prognosis and next game plan. Sounds like I get to skip radiation treatments this time and go straight to chemo AGAIN. ARGGGG (and I was just now considering changing my signature icon, glad I kept it)

The vocabulary word for the day is metastasis. This means the cancer cells have somehow escaped and migrated outside the original site (in spite of surgery, chemo and radiation treatments) and have moved on to new areas to munch on. I'm very apprehensive to discover where they have invaded this time around.

Want to know my first reaction? I want to send Hucc an email with this update. LOL but I think he already knows. Glad that I have him and my Mom as my faithful guardian angels for this next round.

I'm just about ready to start my journal entries for round 3 and if anyone would like copies just send me a PM or an email, glad to share. Hopefully this chapter will continue to be positive and upbeat as well. It's amazing though, when I was first diagnosed back on '05 with breast cancerI was strong and this was my first major health issue. Now I have sooo many medical problems to contend with that have just sapped my energy. But I will continue to fight and draw closer to the Lord for my strength.

God bless you all and thanks for being the best support group in cyberspace as well as in real life!

Hugs, Mariposa

I am so sorry to read that the bugger is nipping at your heels again! You have plenty of shoulders here to lean on. Prayers are being sent to you.

Mariposa, keep the faith. You can do all thing through the Lord, who will strengthen you. Prayers to St. Peregrine for an easy road for you and, of course, a successful battle. Peace.........

Oh Mari, this time around we'll make sure that all those C critters get exterminated for good. I am so sorry that you have to go through Chemo again. My prayers are with you.

Mari stay strong. I remember your summarys from last time and hate to hear you are starting again but do write and we will all be praying for you and hoping for best possible outcome. Hugs.

Hi, just wanted to add a little to what I already wrote. Last year I had a little bump removed from my face that was a little different from all the other face bumps I normally have and was surprised it was diagnosed as skin cancer but they said no big deal, got it all. About a week and a half ago I went to the dermatologist and had a 'bump' removed from the back of my neck, kinda like a clear mole that popped up out of no where in about a week and it was pretty painful and irritating. Had it removed and biopsied and they called me from my primary care doctor office to come in ASAP and Friday she gave me the news this one is NOT skin cancer, but had cells of the same kind found in my breast and it is malignant. So it is breast cancer gone wild. LOL
I'll keep everyone updated soon as I see my oncologist to see what the upperbody CTscan showed and verify that my next line of attack will indeed be chemo and if they know yet where it has settled this time around. Wonder if more surgery is in my future???

Meanwhile, I have to get a dental appt (I'm waay overdue for that one) and have any work done ASAP cuz you can't be having anything done while on chemo cuz of your lowered immune system and possible complications/infections.

Hugs, Mari.

Damn, damn, damn. Ronda, this news sucks. Every night when I settle down to watch a little TV I see the cross stitch you did for Jan. I think of you, and wonder how you are doing. I am so sorry to hear this ugly news. You have my email address, please send me your thoughts on this next go-round. Maybe you should start a blog, and we can go there, you don't have to come to us! Kinda like my friend Angela, of the Itty Bitty... well, you know... You know you have my thoughts, girl, and my prayers too. Keep up the good fight. Praying... Glo

I'm so very sorry to hear this; last time you went thru this you were such an inspiration to all of us with your writings about the journey you were taking. Last fall, at just about this time, you sent me a PM after my DH was told he had a metastasis of the spine (we were lucky that after a negative biopsy & a trip to Univ of Iowa clinic they took that diagnosis from our local drs back & said they believe the cancer IS coming but it has not arrived YET). You have such a way with words & reaching out to comfort others in their time of need. Please know that you are in my thoughts & that across the miles I'm reaching out to give you a great big hug.

Oh Ronda, that news sucks big time. BUT if anyone can beat this you can girl. Our hugs, love and prayers are with you.

H2O babe

You are in my prayers and my hope/wish for you is that you are able to find strength and courage to deal with newest affliction.

Ronda - I am so very sorry to read this news. Please know that you are in my prayers. {{{HUGS}}}

Ah Mari girl....I am sick at heart to hear this crappy news. It is so difficult to know what to say here....really all I want to do is put my arms around you and give you a big hug and tell you it will be all better...guess it is the Mom coming out in me.

Even in giving us this latest news you show your strength. Let those who can help you help, let those that can comfort you comfort, let those that can support you that way they too find strength. From here I will pray!!! Count on it!

I keep forgetting to check this board, so I just found this. It is just not fair, you have already had your share of this! I am sitting here in tears for you.

I had some really bad problems one time, and was told by someone I had turned to for help that it was a really good thing I was strong and could handle it. I didn't know whether to scream, throw something at him or just desolve into a pile of tears. After he was gone, tears won. I always found that if I could cry and get it out of the way, I could deal better later, and it worked. So, I won't tell you you are strong and can handle it, but I know you can with God's help.

You have your cyber friends here when you need someone to talk to. We all will be glad to listen, or to read your wonderful journals. Hang in there! cc
