Hi,

I am interested in booking a cruise with Princess on the Caribbean Princess visiting the Eastern Caribbean in May. This would be my 2nd cruise as I went on my first one last year on the Carnival Miracle.

Does any have any experiences on this ship and is it better than Carnival? My boyfriend and I are in our late 30's and enjoy nightlife and the casino. I like that they offer anytime dining as we always didn't want to go to our schedule sit down dinner each night.

Don't know much about this ship and the Princess Cruise Line and any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dana

Try this website: www.cruisingthecaribbeanprincess.com. A passenger created it and it is full of useful information about the Caribbean Princess. You will probably find more information on this website than any other. He trys to keep the menus and other information as up-to-date as possible.

I've done 70+ cruises overall, of them 9 Carnival Cruises and 43 Princess cruises. Tell you something?

Anyway, it is a matter of preference. I do not prefer the Carnival experience and prefer the Princess experience much more. I find Carnival to be 'Las Vegas' on water. Now, while Las Vegas is fine, I like to be able to sit and have a drink in a nice quiet bar, and on Carnival, I find that very hard.

Food is subjective, haven't been on a ship yet where people were going hungry.

Thank you all for your feedback. Cruising the Princess Caribbean the week of May 6 in the Eastern Caribbean. Looking so forward to this trip and only have heard positive feedback. That tells me something right there that I made the right choice.

Thanks again and will provide my feedback once I return.

Have a great time! We did this cruise in February and loved it! We had no complaints about anything. What a fabulous ship!

I have cruised with Carnival 6 times. I have cruised with Princess the last 2 cruises. I really liked the Princess Cruises. We cruised on The Caribbean Princess and this has been my favorite cruise. The ship is great and so is the crew. You made a great choice.

We have sailed the Caribbean Princess twice (excellent choice). Princess ships are our favorite. Great experience all around! If you are beach people, when you get to St. Maarten, try the public beach just off the second Water Taxi drop off. Also very good shopping (because my wife says so). St Thomas is also great for shopping especially if you like wandering up and down alleyways with lots of unique shops. Magens Bay beach is very good!

How exciting! COunting the days as well. Are you a first timer or have you sailed Princess before? Never been to the Eastern as we did our first cruise last year and visted the Western. I am so tired of the cold Chicago weather and can't wait for the sun! Where are you coming from?

This will be our 4th cruise, and we are new to Princess. Our first cruise was our honeymoon in 2000 on RCCL's Voyager of the Seas and we fell in love with cruising. In 2003 we tried Carnival (Pride) and loved it as well. Last year we sailed Carnival again (Triumph) and really didn't enjoy anything about the ship. But the Triumph was our first Eastern Caribbean sailing and we really liked the ports. Our TA suggested Princess so since we got a great deal, we decided to try it.

We dont have much planned for the ports other than going to Orient beach in St. Martin. We really enjoyed it last year - the beach was nice, the water perfect, and we rented 2 chairs and an umbrella for $14 - and it included 2 drinks.

We're coming from NC (Durham to be exact). So while it's been cold here the last week we haven't had too much bad weather. It was 70 today and should be 74 tomorrow.

To those of you who have cruised to St. Maarten and St. Thomas, which is better for jewelry shopping? I heard St. Thomas but was hoping others can provide feedback.

We are looking to go on the "Dolphin Discovery Swim in Anguilla w/lunch" excursion on St. Maarten which takes you to Anguilla by ferry? Can anyone provide any feedback and is it worth the $189 pp.?

Does anyone have additional recommendations for both St. Thomas and St. Maarten? We are beach people but we want to shop on one of the islands and don't know which island is better?

Thanks!

Sailed the Caribbean Princess in February- it was my first Princess cruise but 10th overall.
Sailed Royal once and the rest with Crnival.
Loved each cruise--- But Princess really gave me the WOW factor that none of my other cruises ever did.

From the time I walked on the ship for the first time it was WOW.

We booked princess mostly for anytime dining. We ate both sterlings and sabatinis and only managed to get to the dining room one night the rest of the week. All other dinners were done in the Cafe Caribe. Its not very crowded at all. At night there were people playing music--depending on the theme. Mexican night had maracca bands. Octoberfest had accordians.
I felt my dinners in teh cafe were more private-intimate dinners then the dining room./ And the food--- WOW I was so impressed with the food.
Even thepizza was by far the best we had eaten on a ship. They make it right there-- like on carnival you dont see it made though. This guy even threw the dough up in the air. Uses fresh tomatoes for the sauce.
I dont think I ate one burger all week.
At night we were nver bored. I "heard" how princess is for older people and how the ship dies about 11pm -= that was not the case. I never found us to be bored.. something was always goin gon. I like that on some shows they give you three different times to get there to see it.
Commedians, Jugglers. Magicians. Vegas style singing shows. Piano bar.

Dont miss champagne waterfalls since it is your first. Go early to grab a railing view and watch them set it up. I was so impressed on how fast they put it together.

I just returned from my cruise on Sunday, May 13th. We were on the Riviera Deck cabin R311 with a balcony view.

Unfortunately my experience on the Princess was disappointing and have to disagree with some of the posted comments. This was my second cruise as my first one was on Carnival's Miracle (Western Caribbean) last April. The Miracle was great! Great food, immaculate boat, extremely friendly staff that were always willing to please you. I couldn't say one bad thing about the boat. It was absolutely beautiful and felt that since we booked on Princess, I thought we were upgrading when choosing this ship.

Princess - I was VERY disappointed by the food quality. The variety was lacking as well. The buffets were not easy to get through the lines due to poor set up. There was no order what so ever. The service staff in the buffet were not very friendly/personable. They acted if we were inconveniencing them and didn't want to be bothered. It by far was the worst food ever. The pizza was horrible. I basically lived on fresh fruit and salads the entire week.

This ship, as I can't compare them to any other ship in their fleet, was definitely catered to the elderly. My boyfriend and I are in our late 30's and not the "lets get drunk and act stupid" type of people. We look to get away on our vacation and relax to remove ourselves from the normal hectic day to day life. The sold out ship of 3200 passengers was an average age of 60. If you are looking for a younger age group of late 20's to mid 40's, THIS IS NOT THE BOAT FOR YOU! I have never seen so many Hoverarounds, wheelchairs and walkers at one time.

The disembarkment was complete chaos and very disorganized. We were signed up for the early walk off as we had a 10:30 flight. When you signed up you were given a number. The deck you were to meet on was packed with people, luggage and no staff what so ever to ensure it was a smooth process.

The boat also seemed run down. It was dirty and wasn't kept up very well. However, there were positive experiences. Liked their pool options and lounge chairs. It was very relaxing to either enjoy the sun or take a nap in the shade. Another great option was the "Movie under the Stars". It was great to watch movies all day with the convenience of laying in the sun and just relaxing. Loved the casino and found the staff to be very personable even though I donated my money to them.

All in all, found this cruise to be a "fair" rating but not "good". Had this been my first cruise, I would opt not to go on one again. But because I had a great experience on the Miracle, will definitely cruise again but on a different line. Princess was definitely not worth the extra money for what I considered as an "upgrade" from Carnival.

I know we all have our opinions and all differ, but when researching you need to find out the average age. It makes a huge difference!! No disrespect to the elderly, but if your not retired you will be very disappointed.

I think the time of year you pick has a lot to do with getting senior citizens.
The begining of may is testing in a lot of schools so families tend not to take the kids out of school at that time.
Im sorry you didnt have a great time on the Caribbean Princess.

I was leary about sailing the CB because of hearing about the seniors- we cruise in February and did not find that to be the case.

Hi,

I am new at this website.

I am really getting nervous now since I will be sailing in June but I am hoping that because of school vacation the crowd will be more mixed.

I have to say that after Disney, everyone said that Carnival was the K-Mart of cruising and we had a great time.

Now, I will try Princess.

Enjoy your cruise!

We loved our last cruise with Princess and booked the same ship for this fall again.

Everyone is so different and I am sure some sailings are better then others. I will just be happy to be on vacation!
