"Coke card" specifics?

I'm a non drinker (no alcohol) and going on the Grand in October - my first cruise. I've seen mention of the Coke card offered at $22.50 and my understanding is that it offers unlimited Coke products to the card holder (except in the dining room?). Please help me to clarify some things....

    1) I saw mention of "fountain drinks only" and also that the card holder receives a "Coke tumbler" at beginning of voyage.

Is one required to use the tumbler and carry it around in order to get the drinks or are the drinks served in a returnable/disposable plastic cup?

What about Dasani bottled water ?(or some other brand although Dasani is a Coke product). Is it available with the card?

Is it limited to the basics, e.g. Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite? Are there other Coke products offered, such as Minute Maid lemonade?

Aplogiers in advance if this seems trivial but Princess offers no details on their web site (none that I could find).

I have been wondering the very same thing about the coke card. We are going on the Grand Princess as well on October 5. I have two teenagers and wondered about getting the cards for them if available.

This is our first cruise on Princess so anyone out there with any information would be appreciated.

This is how I've seen it work.

You get a coke card (actually a sticker that is put on your boarding card), and anytime you want a 'soda' (or related) you present it. It comes in a glass unless you have the tumbler with you. It does not cover cans, bottled water.

That works for me - I definitely won't be carrying the tumbler around.

Katrina - I read a review of the Grand from someone with a sixteen year old - they indicated that the sticker was really, really worth the money for a teen (also for some of us older folks who can knock back quite a few diet Cokes on a hot day).

No, you don't have to use the tumbler and I definitely won't want to be dragging that thing everywhere!

Yes, it's a sticker on the card. You can get drinks at any bar and while at dinner by showing your waiter the card. You're limited to Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite I believe. No drinks in cans, only fountain soda.

Lemonade, tea, reg. water & reg. coffee are free on the ship.

In addition to coke, diet coke and sprite, I've also been able to get ginger ale, tonic water and soda water. Basically anything that comes out of the soda "gun" at the bars is included.

The coke card was well worth the 20 bucks ,each, we paid! In seven days I believe I got my moneys worth.

The only issue that I had with the Coke card was on the morning of disembarkation, the bartender told me that it had expired and was no longer valid. I went to the Pursers desk and complained, and they said that it was still valid and they would notify the bartender that was working at the bar that I had just been to. Just wanted to let you know that incase anyone else ran across this same issue.

It is a great value if you drink large numbers of Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite, and is valid in all bars and dining rooms.

How much are such sodas if purchased outright without the card and is the price the same in room service, dining rooms and at the bars? I drink sodas only on occasion at home but when traveling in warm climes I bulk up in liquids in general - not opposed to making it iced tea and lemonade. I'd rather save my $$ for activities.

Probably bar prices for soda each size varies. Likely 1.50 for regular and 3.00 for extra large. Plus 15% each time . From my recolection, I could be wrong, on the Grand the only place to find free ice tea, besides room service, was in the horizion food court. I don't believe the bars have tea or lemonade at them, or at least I never asked.
Also, the tea is from liquid concentrate, not fresh brew, i found it had a 'processed taste' to it

We found no lemonade on the Star Princess this summer but I did order a small
    (12 oz.) fountain Coke for $1 + 15% gratuity.

I buy the card all the time. When I am going to be walking around or laying on deck, I have the bartenders fill up one of the 1 liter mugs that I bring with me. This way, I have plenty to quench my thirst and dont have to run back and forth all the time.

By the way, the card does cover the sodas in the dining room, as they are fountain sodas. It does not cover the canned sodas brought by room service.

Another hint about the "soda sticker", when you do go to the bar and ask for your drink, be sure to ask for a large one, otherwise, they tend to use the smaller glasses and you end up with mostly ice and little drink.
  15. I would go through at least 15 cokes a day.................besides my Fosters beer!

Me too, Norman! :thumb Princess' price on the cards is so much less than RCI's! :)

Does anyone know the per day cost for the "coke card". I'm doing a 31 day cruise. Just curious what my cost is going to run for that many days.

Have you tried calling Princess? I would love to say that I knew what the price is because that would mean that I'd been on your long wonderful cruise! Unfortunately, I haven't & I don't know the answer, but I do know that if you call 1-800-PRINCESS and ask for the Captain's Circle Desk they should be able to help you or will transfer you to someone who will. Good luck!
