We will be in St. Marteen in March. Since we had been there before we were just going to relax on a beach somewhere and maybe shop around a little. Just where is Everytin's cool and is it a beach place? Thanks!

Everytin's Cool is located right on the beach as you exit the water taxi. When you get to Front Street make a left and it's across the street from McDonald's. There is usually someone standing outside on the sidewalk handing out flyers.

You can rent two lounge chairs and a beach umbrella for $10 from the guy down by the water. Be warned though...even though it is illegal for the vendors to be walking on the beach, they are there. Alot of them. Every 2 minutes someone is bugging you and they will wake you if you are sleeping too.

The location is wonderful. You can see the ships in port. They have a bar waitress for drinks that walks the beach. You can order your food and eat on the beach or in the bar area. It's all open air and they usually will have a band.

It's my favorite place to be. That's where I'll be spending my time in October and Jan. Have fun.

Thanks, it sounds perfect for us. We can shop around first for a little while and when we get hot just head on down there. Sounds just like what we wanted. I just love this board!

Hey Deb what about a sign that says..."we left all our money on the ship, don't bother us"?

One of our favorite places in all the Caribbean! Try the conch stew, french bread and a "Big Black Banana" for lunch. Watch the "Bananas", though; they're awfully good but awfully sneaky, too.

how can bananas be sneaky?

and what exactly is conch stew? sounds nassy!

I'm thinking a sign saying" wake me and you die!" would be a good one! If i get woken up prematurely, i'm a major bearcat!

The "Big Black Banana" is the signature drink of Everyt'ing Cool. (I think the last count was 96 different rum drinks on their menu.) I got hooked on them the first time we went there and have been drinking them ever since. I even bribed the owner to share the secret recipe but he swore me to secrecy. If you watch closely when they're made one of the ingredients is a slightly over-ripe banana, hence the name "Big Black Banana". It's the rest of the ingredients (alcoholic) that make them sneaky. They go down smooth and easy but I ususally have "shoreside wave problems" after the second or third, if you get my drift. (Bonine and/or the patch don't work on that condition!)

Conch stew is made of conch meat, potatoes, celery and tomatoes stewed in a tomato sauce base with Caribbean spices. I got hooked on conch on our first "land cruise" to Grand Cayman. Conch is a large sea snail. Think of one of those old South Pacific B-movies you've seen at 2:00am when you can't sleep where this Tahitian-looking guy is standing on a cliff looking out to sea and blowing into a sea shell. That shell was, at one time, the home for some poor, unfortunate conch who is now homeless, or worse. It's eaten "cracked" (strips rolled in seasoned flour or corn meal and deep fried), marinated (raw and marinated with lime juice) or stewed.

There is a restaurant called the Cracked Conch in Grand Cayman near the Turtle Farm that serves it more ways than you could ever imagine. Thursday night used to be "Conch Madness" night. Conch was part of everything from the apetizer and salad, to the main course, to dessert. I heard they got hammered pretty well in the last hurricane so I don't know if they've re-opened. The Almond Tree House in Grand Cayman does the most awesome conch steak. Lightly breaded and sauted in white wine.

Now, aren't you guys sorry you asked?! Probably more than you ever wanted to know about a slimey little sea snail.

Well now there ya go Linda :lol :lol We can have an entire row of Tiara's lined up on the beach! First, I have to hit Kay's Jewelers to see Archie, then it's across the street to stock up on smokes then I'm off to the beach. Wooo Hooo, get me to my beach chair.

Hawkeye is right about the Big Black Banana. You won't notice it until you try and stand up. He pointed me in the direction of Everyting Cool last December. What a great place to spend the day. Next time in St Maarten I plan on finding a beach chair early in the day and just soaking up some sun and some rum.

They have the best frozen drinks, usually live music too. You can get a beach chair or sit in the resturant area.

I have tried to duplicate the formula for a BBB, but can never get it just right. Usually after the 2nd try, I am too drunk to try again. Remember, friends don't let friends operate a blender when drunk. Always have a designated blender.

ROFLMAO!!!!

Ok, I'm glad i asked what a big black banana was! Now I understand how it can be sneaky!
St Maartin is our first stop out of 5 ports. I'm planning on just shopping and hanging out on the beach at everyt'ings cool! I can leave the touring for the other ports. After all, why travel to a tropical island if you can't just kick back and soak up the sun!!

And you thought it was something dirty didn't you. You sick puppy.

To be honest, it does sound like the title of something you rent in the back of the video store. Not that I know anything about that.

I have digital cable, I haven't rented a video in years.

We went to Everytin's cool and had a blast! The peddlers were a LITTLE annoying, but I just said NO THANK YOU as they got within earshot. As we were getting ready to leave I did buy shirts 5 for $20.00. They were more when we first got there. So wait till you are leaving.. Maybe get a few extra. I brought EVERYONE a shirt home. Hey for 2 bucks each it was a good deal.
