I was on the Galaxy last June and my wife wasn't happy with the cabin's condition. Worn furniture and bed cover with stiched up holes. Broken remote wrapped with tape. Am thinking about booking on Grand and am concerned about her rooms. Anyone have recent experience they can comment on.
    Thanks

We just sailed the Grand 03/07 - 03/14. There were 12 of us and everyone thought the ship was in excellent condition. You will have a great time on the Grand. We have already booked the Star Princess for Jan 05.

We also just got back 3/14-3/21, the ship was in great condition. Although they only had
1 gangway open for departures. What's up with that? The lines were quite long getting on & off.

First of all, Have A Great Trip

I was on the Gran in Dec. 2003. & on the Star in Sept 2003

Compared to the Star which was only two and half years old ( but like new ) The staff on the Grand has taken great care and effort with the ship, overall dinning area's and pool area's were very clean. Our stateroom Dolphin Deck Mini-suite was clean no rip's or tears etc.

I was very, very pleased with the ship's appearence, quality and the staff.

The Grand is going in for refurbishment in the next couple months I believe. It should be like new after that. :)

Lady Jag... where did you hear that the Grand was going to be refurbished. We're thinking of booking the Grand for 2005 and I called Princess to find outif the Grand was going to be refurbished. The agent told me NO! It would be nice if your info was correct.

I heard somewhere on the boards that it's going in to be refurb. I'll look around and see if I can find the post. :) Don't always trust what those agents say - often times you know more than they do! :)

The Grand is going into drydock at the end of April and should be in tip-top shape for your October cruise. The Painted Desert should be changed to a Sterling Steakhouse by then.

I've been on the Grand three times since 1999 (last time May 2003) and she still is like new.

The Grand WAS scheduled for dry dock at the end of April before heading to Europe on May 2nd. For whatever reason they cancelled it and added another 7 day western carib. sailing. I'm booked on it so I know it isn't just a rumor.

    Lady Jag and all,

They cancelled the dry dock that was scheduled for the end of April - there is now a regular western caribbean sailing scheduled. We're booked on it - we must have booked right after it was released because we were able to get both Grand Suites.

Princess has cancelled the Grand Princess cruise scheduled for the end of October. I've seen on other boards she may be going into dry dock then to change the Painted Desert restaurant to the Sterling Steakhouse, and to get touched up where needed. We're glad because we'll be on the Grand on the 11/13 cruise out of Galveston for our first cruise and honeymoon, and the ship should seem like brand-new. We can't wait.

I am also hearing that during teh drydock in October/November, this is when the Movies Under The Stars Screen and sound system will be installed.

Great news for Galveston cruisers!! We'll be sailing 11/20 and this was terrific news for us.
