Starting about 4 days ago, I'm getting 5-6 calls a day, all hours of the day (and night), from 801-229-2252 on my cell phone. I don't answer calls that I don't know who they are from and they never leave a message. I googled this number and found out I'm not the only one these people are calling.

It's really getting annoying. I can't just turn my phone off because I don't have a land line and with two parents in bad health, they need to be able to get in touch with me any all times.

Can't you report this number to your phone server?

A number of years ago shortly after my mother died we started getting calls from a certain number -- they started within minutes of my getting home from work and didn't stop until nearly 10 at night.

Verizon is our carrier and they were able to trace the number and get the calls stopped.

no, although I did get a call from "José Jiménez" the other day.. anyone remember Bill Dana and this routine? I did not hang around long enough for the guy to get a breath.:madd:

Your carrier should help you to get this stopped. These people are pests.

come to think of it.. in the midst of the cruise crud, and many sleepless nights, I finally got to sleep this night in the wee small hours... Only to be woken up at 8 by the phone wringing, it looked like a nuisance call, so i did not answer it, and prayed to get back to sleep. It started ringing again in about 2 mins.. and was the same number.
I picked up the phone only to find myself listening to an automated survey taker from Time Warner cable.

I waited to register my comments.. and they would have blistered paint.

and now that I could not sleep. I went online, I found every Time Warner cable site I could complain at, I called every number I could find.., and they could hear by my scratchy voice that I was ill.. and MAD..
As I said, you have our email address. so send your surveys. do not call people.

I HATE telemarketing calls of any kind.
PESTS!!

Nita - do you have a police whistle to keep handy if there's a voice at the other end? Blowing the whistle into your phone will not be pleasant for the telemarketer.

I would not do that..
they can also get the same police whistle. Payback is heck.

but I do not know if you can do this.. change your answering machine to say something like. "fairview morgue, how may I direct your call?"

then let it go to answering machine a few times.
Now if this is dialing by machine.. this will not help

Well, I don't answer the call, so the whistle is out. The website I found where lots of people were complaining about getting calls from this number, said if you don't answer, eventually the calls will stop. The answering machine message would be a great idea Red.....except....if my mom had to call me and I wasn't able to get to the phone in time, she would get upset and flustered if she heard a message like that, even if I warned her beforehand! LOL

I love that Tom Mabe recording.. the guy can really think on his feet.

I have tried to think of things.. but so far the most I have come up with is variations of this... "hello mam, my name is bill, How are you today?

"Bill, thanks for asking, well I can finally keep things down, but my other end is acting up fierce.. I went 8 time this morning already, and you know what... "
click.....

Nitestar, if you have a semi smart or above phone there will be an area where you can enter the number and tell the phone to ignore calls from that number, may not stop them on their end but will stop them on yours..................

Well -- we got a strange call last night -- a collect call from the Pittsburgh County Jail!! The insructions were that if we wanted to accept the charges all we had to do was press 1. Needless to say we didn't press 1.

Nitestar, next time you are close to one of your carriers retail stores stop in, they will be glad to determine if your phone has the ability and even show you how to program it in.
