I dont want to do excursions!...am I mad?

Jusr think, you will have a ship almost to yourself. You will have a private Bar Tender, lots of chairs right by the pool, a whole pool to yourself (maybe). What could be wrong with that picture. The buffet will be all yours or the Dining Room (no lines).

On the other hand go to a beach in the morning and enjoy before everyone else shows up. When they do, leave in the cab that brought them. Go back to the ship and stake out your spot by the pool for sail away.

I certainly don't think you are mad to me the ship is a destination in itself. Just curious as to why you picked a port intensive intinerary tho? I look for as many sea days as possible, the point made, however, that you have the ship more to yourself on port days is certainly true also. Cheers and have a great cruise!

Do you know what? I've been thinking exactly the same thing. Just saw this cruise advertised in a glossy mag here in the uk and got a bit carried away. Plus when i booked it 4 or 5 months ago i was up for sight seeing. Now just wo weeks away from sailing we are both just about ready to drop. Perhaps a wweek lying around relaxing and winding down we may be more ready to do the excursions. Thanks for your input.

No, Stufus, you are not wasting your holiday. You're doing what YOU want to do and isn't that what vacations are about? No one dictating when or where you'll go, what you'll do, when you'll eat. I hate keeping to time schedules and if I had it my way, every clock onboard ship would be thrown overboard.

I'm with you on this one. The ship is the destination for me. While I love exploring new places, one of my favorite cruises was when we stayed on the ship the entire cruise and didn't step foot on land! It was the most relaxing cruise I've ever had.

Go, and do what YOU want to do and who cares what other people say and think! :grin

It is your vacation- spend it where you like- we plan to spend a day on ship while in port as we have beento that island 3 times- may stil venture off for a little while, may not- will play it by ear and do what we feel like when time comes- No - you are no mad to spend your cruise enjoying the ship and what it offers- Bon Voyage and enjoy yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went on the Grand Princess for a week and during that point in my life, I really needed to just chill out and veg. I layed by the pool non-stop and slept a lot. It was my perfect vacation for that time.

Don't feel pressured to tour the islands. They are nice, but if it is rest and relaxation, a cruise is the pefect choice and the ships today are really floating cities. No need to get off!

You are not mad!!! If you don't want to make excursions, select a balcony cabin and you can look outside the cruise... You can select a very fun-full cruise, like "Adventure of the Seas" (as an example) you can have lots of activities to enjoy inside the cruise... Personally, St. Lucia is not the wonderful place to go... Enjoy your trip inside or outside, simple enjoy it!

yep... do what you want to do....

but in case after a couple of sea days you might actually pull into a port and WANT to explore... How about posting here what ports you will be visiting? and that way you will have options.... what you do.. or do not do with them is up to you.

Enjoy YOUR cruise :grin

You ask if you are "mad" as if some folks have implied that you are. Well opinions are like ears, everyone's got at least one! Curiosity gets me off the ship at most ports. I cruise to explore. But there is much to be said for doing nothing, reading an entire book from start to finish in one day, and napping on the shady side of the the ship!
