The first night of our cruise on Celebrity Century. It was late......stayed at the casino after DH went to bed.....drew a complete blank as to what our cabin number was. Thank goodness the staff can tell by looking at your sail & sign card. How stupid!! Now I write it on a piece of paper and stick it in my pocket. :grin
Could and would you cruise with only a day or two notice?
A woman on Royal Caribbean who was totally bit**y to the waiter. The first night she yelled because there was no shrimp cocktail. The next night he had a huge platter of shrimp on the table when she arrived and she told him to take them away because she didn't order them. This went on the entire week. The last night when it was tip time, she made a big production out of giving him $1. He was almost in tears.
We were at the next table and were shocked by her behavior.
What is the nicest thing anyone did for you on a cruise?
We had a bar tending team on Holland American that went far beyond were their duties should have taken them. For Dutch night they had their wives who were also crew members hand embroider our Dutch caps with our names. And on the final day at sea they presented us with a gift of two collectable champagne flutes
The best excursion was probably when my family and I went canoeing in Alaska..it was amazing to see all the nice views. We had a canoe race with the other canoe on the way back. This was three years ago on the Celebrity Infinity going Inside Passage to Alaska. It was so much fun.
What is the very first thing you do when you go onboard a cruise ship?
Head for the cabin, drop off the carry on bags, have a drink of water, use the loo, then go and explore the ship before it crowds up. This includes checking table assignment, booking a manicure if needed and a table at the snazzy restaurant sometimes.
Gee....I was hoping someone else would answer this one cause I hadn't really thought about it a whole lot. I guess I'd have to say I'd love to be able to use cruising as an actual form of transportation like they did before airplanes. I'd like to go from Norfolk or Baltimore down to Honduras (we can do all the carrib stops in between to let off other passengers) spend a few weeks in Honduras with my daughter's family, then turn around and come home the same way.
Have you ever danced on the tables in a bar at one of your ports of call?
Um No..never in my life imbibed enough liquor at one sitting to have the nerve to actually do that...:grin..and at 44 years old..doubt I'll take the chance now!!...................Do you go to the art auctions, wine tasting or seminars onboard???????????.....Joanne
Ok red....Have you ever had an accident on a ship was your question that got lost.
It wasn't on the ship, but it was while cruising (mom shut your eyes I don't think you want to know about this).
In Belize Julio and I rented a moped and after about an hour or so of driving around in the country we headed back into town. Julio skidded on some sand while turning right and the bike went down. No harm done to either of us, but the mirror broke off. Needless to say, Julio realized that Mopeding wasn't the best thing to do with his 19 week pregnant girlfriend, so we took the bike back.
So new question since I answered 2.....what is your favorite excursion and do you arrange it outside the cruise or is a a cruise sponsored one?
MOM COULD HAVE TOLD YOU THAT MOPEDS WERE VERY DANGEROUS TO DO ON A CRUISE, EVEN IF YOU WEREN'T 19 WEEKS PREGNANT AND YES, I AM SHOUTING!
I wasn't sick but Leatherneck was. He has a very sensitive digestive track (to put it nicely). We met Surfergirl and White Hair Guy for dinner at a restaurant near Dulles airport the night before we left. The steak had a pepper coating with didn't agree with Bill. He was pretty sick off and on most of the week before he got it out of his system. Luckily the worst day was while in St. Thomas and it just happened that it rained hard all day so it was a wash out anyway.
I don't have motion sickness on board...........but only the last two cruises have I noticed it when I 've got home..........the first five I only noticed it the first day so maybe for me it's getting older and more lightheaded naturally...:lol
If you could choose any ethnic or brand name specialty restaurant to be aboard your next ship, what would it be?
