I got a HAL Question. I'll be sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam in September to Alaska. I'm looking at the deck plans, I don't see a guest laundromat on board.

You are right -- there are no Self laundries on the Nieuw Amsterdam.

You have a choice of sending out laundry and paying piece by piece -- very expensive, or laundry by the bag -- $20 for as much as you can stuff into a bag, or unlimited laundry -- usually about $7 per day.

Thanks Krazy Kruizers for the info. I'll be doing a 2 night Pre Stay in Vancouver before the cruise. Looks like I'll have to send out some laundry. At least Princess had Self laundries on the ships that I have sailed on.

You are welcome. The only HAL ships that have the self laundry rooms are the Maasdam, Veendam, Prinsendam, Zaandam, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Volendam. All the newer ships -- none.

Do try the Silk Den for evening cocktails and the Tamarind restaurant (charge for dinner). We love the food there.

We also eat at the Pinnacle -- love their food as well.

Only 3 ships have the Tamarind -- Nieuw Amsterdam, Eurodam and Koningsdam.
