March 10 - Live from Crystal Symphony at sea - internet connection sporadic/poor as is usual in the Pacific
Yesterday - I was pre-boarded by one of my friends at Crystal head office. She, friends (not sailing) and I had a delightful lunch in the Crystal Dining Room (main dining room) after I got through the usual nitty gritty of taking care of my hosting obligations, checking manifests, etc., etc. There are SO MANY familiar faces amongst the Stewards in the dining room, and it's so nice to be greeted over and over with "welcome back". Yes, it IS nice to be back! I'm honored to be assigned to the Captain's table - met most of the people who are assigned there last night and they ALL seem very friendly and interesting. Good start! Our head Table Steward goes back to Crystal Harmony days.
I was beat last night, so didn't attend the show. Plan on doing so tonight. It's formal night tonight with the Captain's Welcome Aboard party.
The seas are quite ROUGH- it started to feel like a twist and turn roller coaster ride during the night. :grin
I have an absolutely delightful - and extremely efficient and pleasant - Stewardess named Eda from Zimbabwe. This is the first time I have had a balcony cabin on Deck 8 ( usually I'm on Deck 9 or 10), but I absolutely LOVE the color scheme of a gorgeous pale green. As soon as I have time, I'll take some pics. I think I'll stick with Deck 8 in the future..
Thanks for checking in Mary Ann! I really enjoy hearing how nicely everyone treats you on Crystal! Must be that much harder to leave at the end of the cruise. Tell the Captain, all of us at Cruise Addicts say hi! Enjoy your trip and taking plenty of pictures!
First please excuse me if I don't reply to messages - connection is slow, so I hope you understand. Yes, the seas calmed down earlier today.
Tonight was the Captain's Welcome Aboard party. We actually welcomed him - he is new to Crystal and this is his first voyage in command. He was monitoring for two previous voyages. He's witty, outgoing - everything good that one can say. A fine addition to the Crystal family!
It was formal night and everybody was formally attired - a pleasure to see. But then, Crystal IS more formal (which I love). Dinner was excellent - started out with caviar, then had exquisitely sweet and tender lobster. ALL we could eat lobster. Our Table Captain and Stewards would run any time one of us at table emptied our plate, ready to give us seconds. The Captain hosted white and red wines. Really fine wines. I went to the production show Cole (Cole Porter hit songs), then stopped in the casino across the way from the Galaxy Theatre. I'm actually a few dollars ahead!!
In the "small world" department, there's a gentleman at our table from Brisbane, Australia, a widower. Very well-travelled and a very pleasant gentleman. As it turns out, we were table mates on QE2's 150th Anniversary Cruise in 1990!!!!!!!
Well - that's tonight's report. Hope I'm not boring you. =sleep
