My husband Bob had tears in his retina...wonder what type of surgery she'll have? He had a gas bubble put in and laid face down for two weeks so the bubble would put pressure on the spot to heal it. Also had laser surgery to bond some of the retina to prevent more ...that part was a breeze. Crossing our fingers all is okay now. His eyesight is okay to drive but still a little fuzzy in spots. Hope they caught hers in time and all will be fixed soon.
Many prayers from here. Has she talked to her doctor regarding waiting and flying - I assume there's no danger in waiting - that would be my concern as I sure wouldn't want to be somewhere else and have a problem. Better to forgo cruise and flying if need to save an eye. Again many prayers that all goes well.
Sue - I agree with you completely. Although she knew there was a problem - she had a previous appointment with the Retinologist several months ago - this news hit her like a bolt out of the blue. Unfortunately, I can only suggest - I can't make her do anything. But I keep telling her to follow the doctor's advice. Right now, she's in the "burying her head in the sand" stage.
Prayers for your friend. I don't blame her for being a bit scared and nervous, and wanting that cruise before she's immobile for a few weeks. If the doctors say that she can wait, then I would. If they think this should be done now.. well.. hopefully she'll see it their way.
Prayers for Jean, Mary Ann. I have had 2 surgeries on my cornea and have to schedule it another one very soon. It really is amazing what doctors can do today. I echo everyone's hopes that she will follow her doctor's orders. Please keep us updated.
Jacquie and Beryl - my apologies for missing your notes above. Yesterday was like a whirlwind here. I sincerely appreciate your comments and prayers.
Again, sincere thanks for the rest of the notes. Jean had scheduled her procedure, unwittingly, for a day before I return from a quick trip in April, but she's changing the date. She IS listening to her doctor not to wait too long.
MaryAnn I'm so glad she's listening and going forward and getting it taken care of. Our eyes are so important and great that she can still fly and go on her cruise. Prayers that all goes well for her. Let us know after the surgery.
