I am hosting a Carnival Cruise Group and am trying to come up with some fun group activities. We will be having a Cocktail party, thinking of doing a raffle and getting acquainted with everyone ect...also thinking of a fun door magnet so everyone will know where everyone else is. I do have a group excursion planned also. It is a younger group, I don't want to do a scavenger hunt. Anyone have any ideas or something that you have done and enjoyed?
    Thanks :)

Perhaps a gift exchange? Every person brings a gift, representing their hometown/homestate. Gifts are wrapped or bagged. All gifts are put on a table. The group leader picks someone to start. They pick a gift. Unwrap and show it off. The person who brought THAT gift is the next to draw, etc. Gift limit $5.

Cabin Crawl - Similar to a pub crawl. Participants journey from one cabin to the next. Allows everyone to actuaqlly see what the different categories look like, etc. Group leader sets up route, so that only one of each category is viewed. Also, try to schedule so the group has to pass at least one bar between each viewing. Don't want anyone to dehydrate between cabins.

Well, gathering together on deck for sailaway is the best. Everyone is so excited then.

On the last few Cruise Addict's group cruises that we attended, they did a cabin crawl. Those members of the group with the most interesting cabins usually offer theirs to be a stop on the crawl. But you want to include at least one inside and one oceanview too. That way everyone gets to see what other cabins on the ship look like. And of course it's a big hit when someone has one of the big suites, or corner afts, that everyone covets.

Also we had a gift exchange. We gathered in one of the lounges and enjoyed a few drinks together. We kept the gifts small, money wise and size wise too (for packing). And since we come from all over, we tried to have the gifts be something from where you live. Some very talented people made their gifts. (Red makes some beautiful stained glass ornaments.) You put your name on the gifts (and wrap them), then you choose someone to go first. They pick out a gift from the pile, and read off the name of the person who gave it, and they go next. It's fun to see what everyone brought.

I type so slow. Cal already posted the same info.

You know we also had matching tee shirts made up. I really liked that. We named our cruise, and someone designed a logo with that on it.
We all got together, wearing them and had our picture taken. On the MOS@IC cruise, we did it out on the helicopter pad. Very cool.

All great suggestions above. The cabin crawl is great if you are new to cruising and want to see what the different cabins look like.

    A few other suggestions:

If allowed by the cruise line everyone bring a bottle of wine from their home area and do a wine tasting one day in someone's cabin. I have hosted this a few times and we get crackers and cheese, some fruit, etc. from the buffet for a little snacking. Have done this on sea days in the late afternoon. Nice little pre cocktail hour.

We all had dinner on the last evening in the specialty restaurant for a last gathering to laugh about the cruise. We sent emails out to everyone before we left home and agreed on a date and time and I booked the restaurant the day we embarked.

While we love doing things as a group we don't like our time to be too structured either. It was nice to have a fixed dining time in the evening, a few group activities and tours and the rest just fell into place without everyone feeling they had to be together all the time.

I like that wine-tasting idea. Will suggest that for the KaKa Kruise ...

Whimsy is right. If you plan too much to do during the cruise, they'll won't be able to do it all, and you will get poor attendance.

But before the cruise it really helps speed the countdown, and keep interest if you do stuff like have a contest to name the cruise: Everyone offers suggestions, then you all vote for the favorite. And the planning the tee shirt (again, have them submit their idea of a logo for it and vote. (Be sure to keep the logo simple without too many colors in the design, or it gets expensive.)

Do you have a theme for your group cruise?? If you haven't already thought of one get your group together and get some ideas. A theme will help a lot if you decide to use some of my ideas.

Why no scavenger hunt??? We did one on the Emerald Princess Group cruise and had a lot of participants. It wasn't a quick run around the ship but a hunt that extended for quite a few days. Prepare a very long list of things to look for on the ship and in the ports...and meet in the morning or afternoon on the last day at sea to see who came up with most of the things! ...because it was the Emerald Princess a lot of the things on our list were green! Depending on the size of your group allow the scavenger hunt to be done by teams of 4 or so.

How about some trivia games...questions about cruising, the particular ship you're on and the ports of call you will visit! Prizes could be drink coupons or something similar.

Have a hat party....everyone makes their hat and there's a small prize for the funniest, the prettiest, the biggest and the most theme appropriate.

A great favourite on Addict Group cruises has been the Door Decorating Party! People sign up ahead of time and the judges go around on a specified day to "judge" the efforts of the participants. Get together at one of the bars for the announcement of the Grand Prize winner. (Bottle of Champagne, Gold Medal, or trophy ... the last two can easily be created by you or someone you know that's crafty)

Do any of your group have a craft or hobby that they love?? Maybe you could enlist them to give a little talk about that to those who are interested. I know Red gave us a great talk on lace making with lots of samples we could look at. A crafty person could do a simple craft hour if people were interested and make a gift box, greeting card or even a scrapbook page (did that scrap thing with jk on one cruise).

Don't forget to get the ship's photographer to take a group photo...it is always one of my favourite souvenirs of a group cruise. If everyone has the same tee shirt...or at least wears the same colour...it's a great shot. Try to do it on a sea day in the afternoon.

Whatever you do have a wonderful time and Happy Cruising!! Group cruises are some of the very best!!!

More great ideas! Great! Maybe the scavenger hunt would work if I stretched it over it a couple days. Do you just have them write down where they find it? What type of items do they look for?

If you would like a list for the scavenger hunt I would be happy to help you make one up. I do it for my my sister's singles group. Just send me a PM.

Oh no....they have to collect and bring the items to you...sometimes a photo will do the trick. When you hand out the lists of items to find also hand out a large paper bag so people can have somewhere to store their "finds"! I'll send you a PM later today with a few good ideas for you! (Don't want to give them all away or people will hoard the items ahead of time)!

Well, if Beryl gave you a 100 item list I don't know that I can compete with that! LOL!!

I'm from outside the St Louis area. I am collecting friends that live in Florida so we can winter with them, 1 week each! So far I am up to about 5 weeks and 2 weeks on a ship! LOL!

Does the ship have a mini golf - we always have a golf tournament. Or some other activity Ping Pong.

Oh my yes, Donna, the mini golf tournament on the "Great ESCAPE" cruise was hilarious! How could I have forgotten.
