Yes, Earl....... I know what you are saying.

What I am saying is I really have little taste for those things. I far more enjoy healthier choices. Why make bad food choices when you don't even really like it??? That doesn't make any sense to me. When you hardly ever eat those foods, you find them distasteful and no treat at all.

At least, that is the case with me.

Also, DH and I cruise a lot more than seven days a year. We are grateful we are able to cruise many weeks so I'm not talking about a mere week out of the year.

I am right there with you Earl! When we vacation we like to splurge, and enjoy ourselves, and to me the food is a very important part of the vacation. We don’t ALWAYS book a Suite, and the times that we do not I enjoy the spread that the Lido has to offer. However for the times we have taken the extra splurge in a suite, I have popped into the Neptune on occasion only to be disappointed in the selections and had to go to the Lido. In effort to satisfy a broader base of taste they simply need a more balanced selection than what they have been offering thus far.

Advance thanks for mentioning my request! We know from previous cruises on HAL that making special request usually works just fine, especially if one addresses the concerns directly to the Food and Beverage Manager, which I intend on doing when we sail in December! :thumb

    Sail,

On our past cruises, they have offered sugar free items as well as the regular items in the Neptune Lounge. In fact, some of the sugar free offerings are just as tasty as the non sugar free.

At least 2 months before I cruise . I go on a diet because I know that I
will eat more than normal. ( I PIG OUT.)
I have never had the honor of going into the neptune lounge but what I gather that it is not a restaurant but just a place
to have coffee and some danish or a small snack, so it is limited in
your choice 0f food. usually the junk food wins out.

Thanks, Sage. You're right!! On the buffet counter behind the dome, there are sugar free candies and sometimes cookies, I think. They look very good but they really don't tempt me....most of the time. :) Maybe a piece here and there.

I understand people who want to have treats they don't eat at home when they are on vacation. I also have treats. It's just that my tastes and what is a treat for me is individual to me and might not be a treat to someone else. For me to have a burger is a huge treat. I rarely eat red meat. For people who eat burgers every week, that is no big deal. I'd rather 'cheat', if you will, by having a burger on Lido or a filet mignon in Pinnacle. To have chips or dip in Pinnacle would not be on my personal list of treats.

That is what makes it so difficult for the menu makers.....tastes are all so individual. No one is right and no one is wrong.

In the Pinnacle chips and dips would certainly be a side dish..... <img src=http://addictscay.com/bob.php?image=laughblue.gif>

Hopefully the people with differing tastes in the food selections can co-exist as well as the smokers/ non-smokers do................ :lol

    That poorly?

We'll have to see how much we like the Neptune when we try it on our 11/25 Noordam cruise. At best, it's a nice benefit; at worst, there's the Lido. Regarding the junk food debate, we skip it at home and can skip it on a cruise. As for burgers, the only time we ever have them on a ship is when we've missed a meal, and the only alternative is pizza. Chips and dips? No thanks!

Just joking about the smoking. We can all sit here with our different views and its nice to discuss them , but in the end we all will have a good time anyway. Guess thats why cruising appeals to so many different kinds of people.

If it were not for diversity in people this would be a very dull and boring world, with so little to chat about. :)

And we do hate dull and boring don't we???????? Nobody could ever accuse this group of not being diverse.

I just LOOOVVVVEEEEE my white chocolate covered strawberries. When I was on the Zui, it was during summer vacation and everytime I went into the Neptune to get a strawberry, the kids had them all gone. Sheila felt so bad for me, she arranged for me to have a plate of them sent every day to my suite. Oh, how I still love Sheila for that!

Oh, and the concierges know in a heartbeat who the suite pax are...without a doubt. They're never rude, but they sort of nudge an "intruder" gently out the door, in such a tactful way. <G>

Well, 2 bars of that exquisite green soap for the girls kept me in the "Gold Card" members club for my whole last cruise.
Mal, I will work next week on whatever it takes to get some of your needs fulfilled for you upcoming cruise.

John - I don't think they'll ever have enough olives on board! As for enough interesting conversation (especially without his partner-in-crime, bOB ), that could be problematic....

Where did you find the green soap?

Not the real, the original, the coconut scented????

I haven't been able to buy it for over two years now. :(
