HOPE I CAN GET A GOOD DEAL ON CELEBRITY. I SAILED ON THE MILLENIUM AND IT WAS SO GREAT. I AM SO SAD ABOUT OUR V ACATION ON THE NORWAY WHICH WAS A GOOD VACATION AT A GOOD PRICE. BUT NCL REALLY HAS ALOT TO BE DESIRED IN THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT AND I WILL NOT SAI L WITH THEM IN THE FUTURE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED ABOUT NOT BEIN PUT ON ANOTHER VESSEL . OR COMPENSATED IN A FAIR WAY . ALSO THEY NEVER EVEN ANSWERED MY LETTERS. I ALSO TRIED TO POST A MESSAGE ON THE CRUISE CRITIC AND I COULD NOT NAVIGATE THAT DISCUSSION HYMMMM WONDER WHY I WAS THE ONLY ONE POSTING ABOUT THE UNPLEASANT WAY NCL TREATED EVERYONE?

Hi Sunnyday. First, could you turn off your caps lock please???? We're a much quieter and friendly group here at cruise@ddicts than those on cruise critic. We realize that people get upset at times but try not to shout (caps) about it; we try to help each other through problems. There are many of us former Norway passengers that are really sad that our Norway sailings got cancelled and are having a hard time finding another cruise to take. The main problem seems to be that Norway prices were so low and people aren't able to find other cruises for anything close to the price paid on Norway. NCL set up a special toll-free phone number for Norway passengers to call them. Have you tried calling that number? Oh, and you aren't the only one posting about the unpleasant way NCL treated them...I visit 5 boards every day and there are many people complaining about it - so you are definitely not alone. Have you been able to get a good deal on Celebrity? You should get the past passenger discount and that would help with the price. Also, have you tried some of the internet agencies for prices? They're usually lower than calling the cruise lines directly. Good luck finding a replacement cruise.

Hi all, we had our cruise on Norway booked for Jan 4th sailing and only found out yesterday that this will now not happen. Went into our travel agents (we live in England) and that phone NCL for us. They were told that all passengers booked on the Norway would first of all be offered an alternative cruise and that they would be writing to everyone in date order. Our agent asked if we would be offered the same accommodation as booked and NCL said they would do their best but could give no guarantee at this time. Also our cruise was all inclusive and the 50$ per person on board credit is not going to be any help at all on that score. We booked an all inclusive deal so that we would not have the large bill at the end of the cruise as I am sure have many others and also we were in a penthouse suite and I have compared prices with the other NCL ships and they are much higher than the Norway.

Our agents suggest we leave it for about 4 weeks and then they will ring NCL again to see what updates are available. What I did find extraordinary was the fact that our travel agents did not even know there had been an explosion let alone that the cruise was cancelled.

I hope that everyone does get a good alternative and that there will still be chance to meet up.

    Happy crusin all

  4. Sandra has a really good agent to even check on options for her, CriusinTex is up on what is happening, Sunnyday, as has been said, get off the Caps. You are upset, as we all are, but yelling won't solve anything. as for sympathy, you most likely will not get a lot from any of us. We all feel bad, we all had our heart set on sailing the Norway but if you really think NCL or any other line would put you on another ship for the same price you paid for the Norway you most likely haven't cruised much. We ended up booking Celebrity, are getting a rate we can live with and booking a balc, but no way is that what we got on the Norway. Life just isn't always fair. That's probably why those on CC did not cry with you. NCL did not rip you off, they offered the best they can do and we have to live with it. I wasn't happy to learn we had to book by the end of Sept to even get our $50 per person on board credit. We won't be able to do that so we are going to eat it I guess. Will be sail NCL again, yes we will. Some will not unless the Norway does go back into the water as some prefer traditional dining. We love freestyle. Hope you can find a cruise that suits you. well i can see you all are fans of the norway . i also thought it was great. my familly and i cruise every year . and i still am not happy with the way ncl handled things and i did expect to be compensated in a equitable way. Glad to hear you are all happy about the outcome but i would and do not run our business in such a manner. Oh well . Sorry about the caps. I am new to the computer and i did not know that caps had a negative conotation. I sure would like to drop byonce in a while and talk to all of you if you are not to offended. i did find a great cruise agent on the internet she is so wonderful she even offered to handle the ncl refund for me . She found me a great deal on the victory a carnival ship. i havenever cruised on the carnival ship i have two small children one 8,11, and 20. My husband and i are in our 40,s and we are so happy now we leave the same day and i never saw such a good deal on a carnival ship. does anyone have any info .

  6. sunnyday, what kind of a great deal did you get on Carnival and which ship? Like all lines Carnival has great, midiocre and lousy ships. As for your new TA handling your refund that's great. We have just learned that NCL is handling them automatically and it looks like we will all get our refunds quicker than expected. Originally NCL told our agent it would take 3-5 weeks, now we hear lots of passengers already have them and most should have the refunds applied to CC with in the next week or so. I sure hope so. Good luck and let us know what ship you are cruising. happy cruisin, Nita

Hi again Sunnyday. I'm sorry if it seemed like I was coming down on you, but caps means someone is yelling, shouting, screaming...stuff like that. And we try very hard here at cruise@ddicts not to yell at each other. We agree that we can all disagree about something but yelling is not our style. Flaming is also not our style, but I see a lot of flaming on Cruise Critic. With that said, let me also say that I am not exactly what anyone could or would call a "Norway fan". I have never been on the Norway; our cancelled sailing would have been my first time on her. I am an ocean liner buff and love the old ships, that's why I booked the Norway. I was totally devastated when I found out our cruise was cancelled. It took me 3 days of crying before I pulled myself together. I still haven't found another cruise. I'm really glad you found a good deal on Carnival and you have a good TA. We have a Carnival board here at c@ and you might try checking that out. If you don't get answers or information you're looking for, go to the Community board and post your question there. We have thousands of cruisers here at c@, many of whom have been on Carnival lots of time. And yes, Sunnyday, please stay with us...please hang around...we're not offended...we're happy to have you here at c@. Welcome to our happy home....(just please don't yell at us anymore, ok??? :grin )

Glad things calmed down. I was offended by the tilte of the post, 9 people are dead as a result of the accident, the lawyers are already scampering around, NCL was not even allowed to touch the ship unti the NTSB got done.
A full refund, in light of the accident, would be acceptable to me. I would then make my own plans. I see no need for NCL to compensate anyone beyond a refund.

I must say that I agree with Sunnyday in the fact that NCL could compensate their passengers a little better than they are. I understand that the Norway is the cheapest ship to sail and that they may not be able to put people on other ships because they are "different products," but NCL is a rather large corporation that is making money! They should be able to do better than what they are. Even more importantly, if they really cannot do better, they need to get people who are not so rude to answer questions people may have. I understand that the customer relations department is hearing all kinds of negative things, but they are getting paid to be nice to people and to answer their questions, and to whatever they can to get these people to sail with NCL again, and I think they are doing a very poor job of that. I work in a gas station, and if I yelled at or got an attitude with even one person who came into the gas station, and my boss caught wind of it no matter what they did, I would be disciplined for it. When you work with the public, you need to be nice, and if you cannot be nice you should not deal with the public. Regardless of what people may think or say, I believe that NCL could afford to compensate people on a first come first serve basis to put them on another ship on the date of their choice. People say "It is a different product," or whatever, but you know what NCL is responsible for taking care of these people and they are not. A business will not succeed unless you take care of people when something bad happens. I know NCL did not make the engine blow up, but it is still their ship, and they were the ones letting people book it, pay it in full, upgrade them, and then wait until there is less than 90 days until your sail date and saying sorry, your cruise is cancelled, and all we are going to do for you is refund your money, and give you a $50 shipboard credit if you book NCL by September eventhough all our other ships are double what you paid and you will still have to have it paid in full if you want your same sail date. Sorry, but that is not good business practices. I was told that my cruise was cancelled about 2 months ago, and I still have yet to see a refund. So, when you hear you may see your refund earlier than expected, I would not hold my breath, and you will be lucky to see it before you book your next cruise. I will never sail on NCL, and I will do my best to spread the word with how unsatisfied with NCL that I am. Word of mouth advertising is the fastest moving type of advertisment there is, and when you work with the public it is easy to relay a message of how bad someone's customer service is. That is just my 2 cents on NCL.

  10. I know some may have had trouble with customer relations, but my daughter called them about 2 weeks ago just to make sure the refunds were coming automatically and that no travel agent had any control. She was treated with respect, informed all refunds would be applied by the end of last week and we got our cc statement today. Our refund was credited on Thurs July 24th That's pretty fast as far as I am concerned especially when you consider how many refunds had to be processed. As for Norway being the cheapest ship on the water, this is not true though the prices were among the lowest. Now as for NCL making money, let's look at this thing realistically. No cruiseline is making much money today anymore than the airlines. They work on a very small profit margin. Think of what it is costing them to loose the Eastern Caribbean market for close to one year at best. Insurance will cover some, but not all the costs by any means. I am just happy to have my refund. Why do so many people think they should get something for nothing? If the Norway had not been there to begin with we would not have had these great suites for under $1000 per person and would have settled for what was available. I just don't get it. Sorry if I haven't much conpassion for those who are disappointed, but we are all in the same boat and had to make changes in our plans. Life goes on.

well as far as the lack of empathy i am accused of having from other people on this forum. i wrote a lettter to the crusie line to express my deepest sympathy to the famillys of those officers whos the lives were lost due to a malfunction of the equipment on the ncl norway ship. Besides the famillys could care less about my wanting to be compensated for a lost vacation. i do however feel quite bad about the loss of life. Nita should tell us what her profession is maybe ncl needs some help ha ha same with jim . thank-you for agreeing with me it sure is no way to run a business. but i got a good deal on the carnival victory thanks to cruiseone travel we will be leaving the same day for about six hundred dollars less than ncl was willing to discount - ha ha,the noreweign sun leaving the same day as the norway scheduled vacation i was booked on, any one sailing on oct.26-03 let me know like to hear from you . i noticed you will be on the paradise hope you have a great time my friend. i have never cruised on carnival hope i like it. bye for now
