=lolgang.. I have a 6 quart Crock slow cooker.. and it has been my best buddy for about 8 years.. but it's had a tough life, and it'll get donated to one of my DD's..so Mark said.. why don't you just get another.. and I did.. with HIS checkbook!!..hehehe.. but I have a silly issue..., the new crock I got which is simply divine..a new updated better version of my "old Faithful" . .. it came with a BIG crock pot recipes book which I simply do not want/need...but I hate to just toss it, and I have a TON of recipes, and books already.. and use them ..BUT this is nice and easy recipes.. but I don't need it.. any takers??...post here...or PM me ,and I'll gladly send it to you...:grin..Joanne

:grin looks like Sweet Meg wants it.. and tag she got in first!!..sent you a PM Megs..

Judy I don't even want to know what my life would be like without that lifesaver supper maker ...I am on such a merry go-round of shifts, and surprise stay or else add on's for hours!!..:( it pays me to use it and with Winter coming!!..

...I got the New Rival one that has LOW, LOW, High, High , and "warmer" on it after it's done cooking.. and the old one was all white, and it had a plug in the back that bumped .. now it's in stainless, with black so the dirt is less apt to show, and it cleans like a DREAM!! and the plug is on the bottom.. and at Wally World it was $$37.00 bucks!!I felt like I had hit Lotto when I brought it home!!...they only had 2, and I got mine!!

    Happy cooking all!!...:)..Joanne.

I'll check out Walley World next time I'm there! Thanks for letting us know. There are times when I could use two. Like when company comes. I love my slow cooker.

Especially in winter time Paw makes good use of our crock pot. He gets enough for one meal this way one day free of cooking. We got a new one two or three years ago but it is brown crock-dishes I use when we have company ae brown crock so works well.

I use my crockpot constantly, actually I do have two. I have the one that the inside lifts out to clean.

Well, clumsy me, I have broken that inside crock once or twice. Soooo, I go to the local Thrift Store and have found that inside piece for $2.00. So I picked up an extra for the next time :)

Same with coffee pots...if the carafe gets broken, you can usually find a replacement at the Thrift for a buck or two.

Things I make in my crockpot are....spagetti sauce, chili, and beef stew.

I'd like to get that recipe I've seen some of you write about, where you cook pork in the crock pot and then make pulled pork for sandwiches? Anyone know what I'm talking about??

    Good topic Cruise Cutie!

reggae - we just put a boston butt in there with salt & pepper and cook it all day. Then pull it out and put it in a bowl and pull all of the fat off and discard, and then take two forks and start pulling. Yum!!

One of my all time favorite meals is: Put 1/4 cup of water in bottom, and then add 4 to 6 bone-in chicken breasts, bone side down, sprinkle with salt and pepper and lots of rosemary, and sprinkle with a little bit of lemon juice and olive oil and cover. Cook on low 6 - 8 hours. Delish!!

Thanks Corky....but what do you use for the sauce with the pulled pork? Any old BBQ sauce?

....and speaking of that, my DD gets to Memphis quite a bit (her airline has a hub there), and she always raves about a place called Corky's (purely coincidence with the name)

She has brought home some of their sauce and the Rubbing salt for ribs. It is excellent! Some day I need to go there with her.

ps...I'll give that chicken recipe a try too, thanks!

You all sound like one convincing commercial! I think I'll use my birthday gift certificate and order a crock pot on line! I have a co-worker who said she uses her crock pot to make ribs! Chili, beef stew...it's getting to be that time of year.

When I worked I used mine all the time and was with our family of 5 nice to come home to a meal almost completly ready. When youngest son worked for forestry he had some type of game in his most days He could make what ever you would want out of venison. Lots of chili.

I =love my crockpot. I'm like Reggae and have 2 of them. I use it more in the fall/winter than the other seasons. I stew whole chickens for chicken & dumplins, I'll slow cook chuck roast and shread it for BBQ, It's great for keeping food warm like potatoes or stuffing for holiday meals. I just used mine yesterday for a roast. I just poured in a can of beer and let it simmer all day. :)

Reggae you can use a commercial sauce or make your own. I start my pulled pork and beef BBQ with a combination of Coke(it breaks down the meat), canned tomato with spices. I use salt, a little garlic powder sometimes and sometimes I use rotelle. That is tomato with medium hot peppers. I let that go for several hours about 6 and then pull it out and start pulling it with a fork. Sometimes I add BBQ sauce it all depends on the flavor as it cooks down. It is yummy.

I use my crock even in the summer because it keeps the temps of the house down. Use any pork loin. It works really well. And I use the blade roast or any pot roast for the beef BBQ.

Wow, I have never had one, looks like I am missing some good food. Except, I think I cook less now than Suer does!

:daisy Connie you can get a small size crock pot. I am not sure how
many quarts it is. I have two, a big daddy size & a small size. Of course
the Big Daddy brought them for me. He likes to have his meal ready 10
minutes before you cook, if you get my drift.LOL.

That site Recipbaazar(sp) has wonderful recipes! Yummy. With summer coming
downunder I will use the big pot to cook chicken wings and the small one
to cook 'garlic butter' new potatoes, Oh, I am getting hungry.:chef

Joanne - Mark does deserve a pat on the head. As was already suggested, you don't think he'd like a special meal prepared in it, do you?
