    For all new Princess cruisers....
While *ON* a Princess cruise ship sailing ..there is an opportunity to obtain a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) AKA "Ghost Booking"..the newest info from Princess is that you have to purchase this for *EVERY single Person who would be ON the future sailing *..
for 100.00 per person you can then ensure on either a declared future sailing or a non picked sailing an opportunity to have this $$ lock up any itinerary ( except world cruises.:) )
They do put this on the daily Princess Patter, and tell you where the FCC Person is and the hours..simply scope it out..do it as early as possible as it's the last 2 days 1/2 the ship remembers to get it done, and it can get a bit wild at their office..:D..( we personally do it the second day of the sailing, the papers are delivered to your mail slot next to your stateroom, and it's all set..takes maybe 10 minutes tops..).we also always keep 2 ahead.EACH...as you just never know!!
the beauty of this FCC ("Ghost Booking") is that when you do get this ON THE SHIP it ensures that in up to a 4 years time period you may have this 100.00 per person be the ONLY monies needed to "lock up a sailing".. versus the 20-30 % required from a Travel agent or Princess itself when you make a future booking..
two things to remember 1)...If you "like" the TA you used on your current sailing..this Travel agent person/ company will be awarded the "future credit"..OR you may have Princess hold it, and THEN when you make a booking ... transfer it to the TA of your choice..
2).FCC's ( Ghost bookings) are good for up to FOUR years, they may be canceled at any time, and the money is re-credited to the credit card of use on the ship at the time of purchase
ln order to get this plum opportunity you can ONLY do this WHILE on a Princess sailing ;once off ship it's done....also you cannot "add on" someone ..ie a child or friends etc.. those days are gone..

Also of note if you make a booking, and change your mind; it simply can be re-assigned back to your Princess account and re-used.. do not *EVER use the words CANCEL the FCC (ghost); use the word REASSIGN.....as some less than with it agents have canceled them and yup you guessed it it was GONE.. :hammer:..and burned gone it is....:(..buyer beware with that!!
this Is a loyalty opportunity Princess uses to have folks stay with them..as you would guess that 100.00 per person is an unbelievable savings chance to have another booking and not tie up huge sums of $$.. and then the balance of the cruise is due at Final payment as with any other cruise booking..
Happy research, and Princess cruise sailing...:)..Joanne

Cutes...do you happen to know what happens to the FCC if you have to cancel it and you no longer have the credit card that you purchased the FCC with...I know that we have changed credit cards since I last purchased one...same bank just a different cc#. Strictly a "what if" question as I have no plans whatsoever of cancelling my FCCs....only buying more :D !

    Wonder Woman strikes Again!!
And she finds time to repost Ghost info

BTW guys, I have had that issue a couple times and they can't put it on a random card. The banks won't permit a refund unless the charge was through the same card.

Consequently, in both cases, I was sent a certified check via snail mail. I got snagged a couple times when I booked too early, moved to another state, changed my ATM Visa (of course) to another bank, closed old bank accounts and didn't think of it until I started paying for things on line (had to update all Visa info) and was getting credits back from Celebrity to cards "no longer in use". I used to use ATM Visa for booking and on boards. Sadly, not this time!! It's all going on plastic baby!!

There is also on board credit for the future cruise as well when you get the FCC's. Don't know if it is for every cruise or just certain sailings.

Joanne - I have bought FCC's while on board for only me (paying the $100 deposit) and then added the second person at the time of booking for an additional $100 deposit. Since I never know who will be cruising with me due to work schedules or if I will be cruising alone I routinely do the FCC in my name only.

Meg...Princess recently made changes to the FCC program...I think it occured around mid September. Since I have not made a booking since the changes I'm not sure how this works now. I suspect that you can still book another person in the cabin with a reduced deposit (don't know for sure) but I do know that with only one FCC they are only giving the onboard credit to the person who own that FCC. I'm wondering if this means that if I buy extra FCCs I can use those for someone else who sails with me...be it my DH, my Mom or a friend. One of these days I am going to make a booking and find out!!

Michael is of course right..the amount of on board credit awarded is given to length of cruise be it 7 days, 10 days 15 days or longer...and if inside, outside window, or balcony sailing bookings..the amount awarded is increased for longer and balconies/ suites..
Meg... Beryl is right..the new rules are in place so you'd have to contact your TA to find out ..
but the good old days of adding someone for 100.00 or booking family and friends is gone..:bawl:..

    happy sailing..:spyglass:. Joanne

I dunno, guess it's just me, but I never thought it was such a big deal. Lower deposit for you, but "hook the fish while on board" for the cruise line. I'm sure research shows them that once people put down a deposit, they are less likely to cancel, etc.

I guess it's an advantage if you're sure about future sailings far into the future, where you can use the money to better advantage before final payment is due.

I like Princess and the FCC is a very nice way to make my booking and get on board credit. I just booked a 7 day cruise and each FCC give me $50 OBC for our balcony cabin. Thanks Princess! I couldn't make that rate of return with my money sitting in my savings account!

Joanne and Beryl - I thank you for correcting me. May I just add that these changes really stink for me since I recently bought a FCC with only my name on it?

I will have to fix this situation when we sail to Hawaii - I am guessing that if I buy another single for just Marty then it will solve the issue (I hope?). Then I will make sure to buy for 2 people from now on.

    :D

:D..you aren't the only one learning the new curve....we checked and re-checked on Sea Quack..sigh..we are just lucky that I am so hard headed while *ON* vacation I flat out insist on blowing the wad and buying 2 for each of us..every cruise we go on for "both of us"..
Yankee frugality wars with keeping an extra in my back pocket *Just in case*..:).
:duh:who figures the goons would change the rules mid way through?????:bbat:

just play catch up when you can Megs and beat them at their own game..:spyglass:..hugs..Joanne

Still the BEST deal out there with regards to what U get for the $$$ spent. On the other end is RCCL which IMO now has the worst program out there. :hammer: Their credits are NOT combinable with any other discounts such as Platinum, Diamond, or Diamond Plus. :madd: Needless to say I will NEVER purchase another FCD with RCCL and I would imagine MANY others are following those same footsteps. Bravo to Princess for still making the FCD a worthwhile expenditure.

I agree E. I have a FC for RCCL but plan on using it for a non-balcony cabin. I have I think 3 FC's on Princess. I just haven't had the opportunity to use them yet. Also you can combine Princess FC's with Stockholder benefits. Can't do that on RCCL.
