Our beloved friend Ronda passed away today at 2:35pm West Coast time.
Her sister said that the passing was peaceful and uneventful.

She did request that if anyone have pictures or video of Ronda from any time, they would dearly appreciate copies on DVD.
We can perhaps pool our pics of this courageous woman, and put them together on one disk.

Thank you Glo. Her long & valiant battle is over with. She gave us all great joy being here, she will be sorely missed. Like someone said before, she'll be greeted by both Hucc & Litta. I will miss her.

With much sadness and in loving memory.....

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!â€Â
    “Gone where?â€Â
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!†there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!â€Â
    And that is dying….

Thank you for sharing the news, Glo. My thoughts and prayers are with Ronda's family.

A little more than a year ago, Ronda made a most eloquent post that she called, "Lessons I learned from my friend Hucc." Below is an excerpt that I found comforting, and I hope her loved ones can find comfort in it today:

"Know when to concede that things will never be the same again and accept those changes without grudges or bitterness. Sometimes our physical abilities are changed forever. I know that when I grumble about the numbness and weakness in my arm I often need to remind myself to make the best of it and find alternative solutions to compensate for my damaged body. When Hucc was slammed with the reality that his breathing was in jeopardy, and he made that final choice to forgo any life saving attempts he was accepting the inevitable with dignity and grace. He wasn’t giving up his battle, he was simply letting go of his struggles and giving in to finally being at peace and going home to be with his Lord."

The words that jump out at me, and describe her best in my opinion, are "dignity and grace." Rest in peace, my dear friend.

Very sorry to lose this friend I've never met. She inspired us all with her courage and strength. Today, I supported coworkers and my bosses with donations to walk for breast cancer ....little did I know that it would become a remembrance of losing Ronda. Too late for her but maybe a little can help towards finding a cure.

Rest in peace, Mariposa, your soul a butterfly, forever beautiful.

    Special Butterfly

    Oh butterfly
    you are so magnificent
    as you gently soar
    high above the earth
    connected only
    by gravity's invisible pull.

    You bring joy and happiness
    to all who know you
you add beauty to the flowers
and trees where ever you go
    you make the world complete!

    You are free
free to float with the breeze
    high above the trees
    absorbing the beauty
    and wonder of all below.

    You are free
    free to land
    on a child's outstretched hand
    to trust
    to linger for awhile
    and feel the gentle warmness
of the sun on your body.

    You are free
    free to excite
    the fish below the surface
as you dart left and right
only inches above a southern pond.

    While you soar
on fresh breezes out of sight
    as you explore the mysteries
    and wonders of new ponds
you are in my thoughts and prayers
    you are missed!

I am so very sorry to hear this. I hope her family knows what an inspiration she was to all of us here at Cruise-Addicts. She personally reached at to me with support & such wisdom on how to deal with Mike's cancer diagnosis. I am so glad that some of you were able to surprise her with the Duck Cruise meeting. May she now & forever be at peace & free of her pain & suffering. I bet Hucc is welcoming her right now.
