I am checking out a couple websites (listed below) that have rock & roll or oldies cruises coming up next year. If you or someone has used them, would you please let me know? I'm more comfortable using a TA, but they say you have to book through them. Here they are:

Sorry, can't be of any help with those sites.

We have enjoyed seeing "Bowzer" from Sha Na Na on a couple of Royal Caribbean ships. He puts on a good show.

rock & roll/oldies cruise 2010

That's OK, and thanks.

Yes, I seen bowzer on one of my cruises, but he was not there to entertain, but just as a guest, like me.

I don't know if you or anyone can give me any feedback on this, but have you ever booked a cruise throught a website, not a cruiseline itself, but a website? I'm just a little leary of doing it that way as I have always had a TA, here in my area that I felt comfortable with, should anything happen before/during/after the cruise.

If anyone can give me some pros/cons on booking a cruise through a website, I would apprecite it.

I love rock & roll cruises since our very first cruise was the same. But I am not familiar with the sites. Let us know if you come across anything.

Well, since I work as a cruise specialist for one of the largest travel web sites I may be a bit prejudiced. If booking through a web site just make sure you have a contact with a phone number and extension whom you can reach if problems arise.

oldies/rock & roll crusie 2010

OK thanks for that info. I will keep that in mind. I just NEED to know that I have "personal" contact with a person, especially when it comes to forking out money, and I don't want to be taken advantage of. Guess I just like the "secuirty" of knowing that my TA is in my area, if I have problems, but I may go this direction, if I cannot find it through my TA.

Posted on the cruise & travel chat forum...

Can't get enough of the oldies? Neither, apparently, can Carnival.

After striking a chord in recent years with Elvis themed cruises, the line and music event organizer Sixthman have come up with another themed sailing that's all about the early days of rock 'n roll: The Malt Shop Memories Cruise. The four-night voyage to Mexico will include live performances by such heroes of the 1950s and 1960s as Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Little Anthony & The Imperials, Lesley Gore, The Original Drifters, The Platters, and Lou Christie.
The sailing will take place May 13 on the 2,052-passenger Carnival Inspiration sailing out of Tampa. Prices start at $699 per person, based on double occupancy.

Atlanta-based Sixthman says the cruise is inspired by Time Life's famed Malt Shop Memories collection -- a box set containing 150 songs epitomizing the birth of rock n' roll.
In addition to live performances, the cruise will feature 1950s-themed sock-hops, beach parties, dance contests, bingo and more.
Details of the trip are online at MaltShopCruise.com.
