Sea Dreams

For the winter days

Sea Dreams

No man can say is lives repeat
Like branches on a growing tree,
And yet, I know in some past time
I've spent ny days upon the sea.

For, when the wind blows late at night,
And clouds eclipse the stars on high,
I feel a breeze across the deck,
And soaring sails reach for the sky.

And when the thunder shakes the ground
Like some great beast just held in check,
I feel the fury of the sea
With waves that crash across the deck.

When I endure the numbing hours,
The snow ind ice of winter days,
My dreams recall lush tropic lands
Appearing through the morning haze.

So call it fantasy or fact
Or only dream thoughts in my sleep,
I must return there once again
And cruise across the boundless deep.
