It's Morris my oldest furbaby, he's 14 this year.
Not really sure what's going on with him at present.
It's along story but we have been back and forth to the vets over different things for the last 2 weeks.
He is being treated for hip and back pain along with a mild bladder infection.
I took him to the chiropractor last week and this helped him a lot with his disc problems at least.
They did a thyroid function test yesterday at the vets along with basic x-rays, both are ok..
He is panting profusely and he is so unsettled when is like this. He has gradual weight loss and his face looks gaunt. He has obvious muscle wastage,so today he is going in for an 8 hour test to rule out Cushings Syndrome. If this is negative then we will be going to see the specialist.

Hubby picked him up from the vets and apparently he 'pee'd' for Britain in the waiting room of the vets as hubby was paying the $300 vet bill. Hubbys foot was swimming in Morris pee :lol
Poor Morris, everyone hugged him and had a laugh at the same time! They hugged Morris that is not hubby :D
Well he is still so unsettled this evening and panting something awful, we get the result tomorrow regarding his test today.
I gave him his pain meds and a benadryl to try and help him relax some, I do hope he sleeps well, bless his big heart!
Will let you know what happens next, thanks everyone :)

Prayers are coming your way. It is so difficult when you have a sick furbaby, as they just can't tell you what is wrong. Hopefully, he will feel better soon.

Just spoke with the vet. Morris doesn't have adrenal problems ( Cushings Syndrome)
Basically she thinks he has a 'brain' problem, either doggie dementia or a brain lesion of some kind.
So we could go and see the 'specialist' who we really like and let him decide what to do next but that would probably mean Morris would have have a CAT scan followed by some type of invasive treatments :( He is 14 with hip and back problems so we wouldn't put him through all that.
As our Vet said if it is a brain lesion we will be seeing signs and symptoms of this very quickly. :(
So we are going to treat him with a similar drug to prozac. It willl take about 4 weeks for us to see any improvement in Morris if it is helping him.
If that doesn't work there is a very expensive drug especially for dementia in dogs that we can try.
She said to try the 'prozac' first as she has seen it help with a lot of her 'clients'. We then have the dementia drug to fall back on if we need it.

We like and trust our vet she is very compassionate and loving with all our dogs and cat, even Guinness who has to be heavily sedated before they can do anything with him:D
We trust her judgment. As she also says if it's brain lesion there will be a time soon where we will have to make a choice for Morris :(

I just saw your note. Pucci and I send prayers and good wishes for Morris. I know it's so hard to see a furbaby uncomfortable and unwell. Please keep us posted. In the meantime, scritches and tail wags for Morris.

How sad when our furchildren don't feel well. As a poster above said, they just can't tell you what is wrong. It's painful to look at them and see that they are saying something to you, and then not to completely understand. If only we understood "dogspeak" as well as they understand "humanspeak." Many prayers heading your way for Morris and both you and your husband.

Morris seems a little better not as restless or panting as much. He hasn't started his medicine yet, have the pick that up on Monday. ( Pharmacy ran out of them )
He is still wobbly and unstable sometimes but he has the muscle wastage along with hip and back problems so I do put that down to him just being a senior.
Thanks again everyone I will let you know if anything changes with Moz :)
