why is it some users can post off topic (i.e., Eintstein on Community posting about stocks) and other users can post off color jokes that say EXPLICIT sex references, whereas a joke with implicit innuendo (i.e., Jorge's jokes)

Cap't and Office bOB, if you are going to have rules, they must apply to EVERYONE, even your pets.

Hucc, calm down guy. Let's just make the best of this and not "rock the ship" as it were. In fairness Jorge has not posted a joke since the new "rules" went into effect. Last joke he posted was mid-August. John did say some OT stuff was OK in community, it's just the prayers, best wishes, pics of the grandkids (which I am guilty of :lol ) etc should be here in AFT. We can live with these changes it's just going to take come getting use to =peace
  3. All I have noticed is the posts on community board way down, today just Maws Ramble,I replyed to Es picture, but I have nothing cruise related to talk about till closer to my next cruise so I am not posting much over there,I find myself not coming to the boards as much which is a shame but I have nothing to contribute so just lurk, and I dont know how much longer I will do that.

I believe the post counts are probably about the same, it's just that they are on two different boards now. That way, when the newby's come to the Community Board, it won't be bogged down with OT posts. JMHO :)

The changes are going to take a little time for everyone to get used to...

i like the new rules and i'll tell you why:
it seems that there is way more OT topics going on. with an entire place just for OT, i think people are contributing more in general.
i'm easy- i like all of it. the more the merrier!:thumb

Posting does seem to be down even if you add up all of the posts. I have just gotten used to going to this page first and then looking at the community board.

I hope you don't get banned HUCC

Hucc - I am having more trouble getting used to the wrestler in your signature than the new rules. :lol (I do know its there for good reason)

I agree with reggae & rooy. My next cruise is over a yr away but I still go to the community board every day because #1--I enjoy reading questions & answers about CRUISING and #2--with only 4 cruises under my belt I have a lot to learn. I have NO problem visiting 2 forums each day; I love keeping up with the happenings of the cruise addict family & have on occasion used this family for moral support. I don't go to the community board to check & see who is posting something in the wrong place. I really really like this new set up and do wish everyone would just relax and enjoy the fact that we have cruise addicts to come to everyday. I would hate to see Capt John get fed up with all of us & throw in the towel on this site.

Well, I just checked page 1 of the Community Board and all the topics deal with cruising and ports of call or cruise weather advisories.

I can only commend everyone for their diligence in keeping non-cruise related items on the Aft Deck (which was meant for such discussions).

Yes, the only exception was in regards to "Maws Office Ramble".

There could be the "oops" in posting a non cruise related post in the Community Board, but the moderators are there to move those posts to their designated "home". This is what the moderators had explained when the changes were made.

Hucc, I want to share my feelings without hurting yours, OK? I've noticed that several of the recent jokes have been, well shall we say, rather riske. I just assumed some of us have been feeling a little frustrated by lots of things, and sometimes by being friskey it helps to let off a little steam. No harm meant on anyone's part, I'm sure. BUT, if I were the moderator I would determine which jokes remained on this family forum by asking myself "would I want Oliver, Elliott, or other teenagers reading this?" If not, then I would delete that specific joke ad hope the poster would understand why. (usually when we post something questionable we wonder if it is really a good idea so we aren't too surprised) Personally, I had been waiting for a couple of them to be pulled. I didn't mind them too much, (heck, they were down right funny) but know some might be offended so it's best sending those in private email. I think that's the real criteria here.

Now about the OT stuff, Capt did say if it was something everyone might be interested in it could be posted on Community. We still post which OT we want over here, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue for us.

Please don't be too upset, OK kiddo. Maybe we should go off together on a new Google adventure for some excitement. =COOL and not let something like this spoil our day. We'll just have to save up our venting posts for when we are waiting for our own test results. LOL

    Hugs, your cyberbuddy, Mari

Ease up Hucc . . . .I agree that the rules should apply evenly and equitably to everyone. I also thought your joke was funny, and it is the type that I would put in my weekly humor email that I send out. That said, it was NOT appropriate material for the family atmosphere of the board. Lets just go with the flow and let things settle into a routine.

    MARIPOSA Guest

Tobyn, I almost wrote my reply above to say that we could send those jokes in private email like the joke master Tobyn does. LOL LOL

I agree that Aft will be so much better when people just catch on that we are here still sharing, caring and laughing. But I also agree that the perception has to be that everything is fair and equitable. nuf said!

here's a crazy idea, why not an adult only area? SHips have 'em , why not here, too?

that way if Mari wants to wear her string bikini, she can, and some of those awesome jokes Tobyn has,can be shared.

It can be called "The Solarium".

    MARIPOSA Guest

Me in a stringed bikini? ::eek: now I know that you took a silly pill this morning cuz like my Mom says you are so full of piss and vinegar today. LOL

I'm just sick of all the complaining.....it's done, get over it and adjust if you want to stay here.....we all know where the door is, it swings in both directions and we are free to use it if this is place is not to our liking.

Not everyone can be pleased....sometimes people are disappointed. You then have to decide to stay, deal with it maturely or find a new place to hang your hat.

C@s has always been and will continue to be a GREAT place....Thanks to John and the Elves. THANK YOU JOHN!

Hucc, I had a post removed a couple of years ago because someone thought it was an "urban tale" but it was actually a real story. And yes, I've also thought that some other jokes have been offensive and not quite family stuff, but who's to say that those threads weren't deleted? I just never went back to look them up to see. And if no one says anything, then we never know. I suspect there is a lot more "policing" going on then we are aware of. It's a job that has to be done and probably done more fairly than we realize. We are all important members of this wider family, and treated the same (I would like to think.)
