My father fell off a roof and they are scheduled to leave on a Bermuda cruise July 12. He is doing fine, but will not be able to travel that soon. Anyone have any advice on what we could do with this cruise. They did not take out the insurance. The agent said at least my mother would have to go, they only allow one name change. Please let me know

I won't go into the insurance thing. I am sorry to hear about your father and I made some calls for you and the best idea that I have heard so far is:

Write a very nice letter (KEEP IT BRIEF AND TO THE POINT) to Celebrity and ask very politely if the cruise can be rescheduled to another time that will be more conducive for your parents enjoyment.

Best of luck and let us know how it turns out.

I agree. I actually thought that maybe your TA would do that for you but you might be your best advocate. I have heard that other cruise lines do it.

First of all, my best wishes for your father's speedy recovery. I agree with the
respondents so far. Several years ago, we were victims of a crime and could
not leave the area for our Carnival cruise due to the ongoing investigation at the
time. I wrote to Carnival and my TA also advocated for me to either cancel with a
at least a partial refund or reschedule the cruise. At that point we were just mere
weeks from the cruise. We were overconfident in that we did not take out insurance
because we had taken many cruises and vacations without a mishap-- what could
    happen? Famous last words!

Anyway, Carnival responded back with a lovely letter wishing us well and a refund!
I have never forgotten that kindness at such a trying time and we learned our
lessons-- take out insurance. I strongly urge you and your TA work together and
follow the suggestions offerred by the previous respondents. You have nothing
to lose and everything to gain. Like Carnival, most cruise lines will consider each
situation on a case by case basis, because they want you back as their customers!

So try, you just may get lucky!
Again, my wishes for a speedy recovery for your father!
