We are booked on a cruise to the Western. Med. and can not decide on booking the cruise ships excursions in Rome and Venice or trying to do it on our own...any suggestions or past experiences that you can share. We are traveling with our mom who is on her 80's and we are in our 40's...thanks

We just came back from a 12 day Med. Cruise aboard Brilliance of the Seas. We did shipped arranged excursions. Most of the guided tours for Rome involved extended periods of walking over uneven walkways. Something to keep in mind if your mom is in her 80's. There are a variety of tours available in Venice that travel by gondola or motor launch and involve very little walking.
