Where are you from? It's usually warm enough to swim in northern Florida until almost Thanksgiving, sometimes later. However, the Atlantic is always pretty cool. Pools shouldn't be a problem.

Can't help with the hotel, but water temps in early October will likely be close to 80 deg F.

Sometimes the riptides here can be BAD in October due to Hurricane season. Depending upon what time in October (end or beginning) will determine the water temperature. End of October it can be cold!
