Miami-based NCL Corp. will pull one of its three ships from the Hawaii market starting in 2008 because of over-capacity.
The company's Pride of Hawaii was custom-built for that market. Its bow is splashed with a painted garland of flowers found in tropical climates.
NCL is the only cruise line that can start and end cruises in Hawaii without going to a foreign port because its ships were built in U.S. shipyards and staffed with mostly American crew.
But it has been unprofitable in Hawaii as staff turnover remains a big problem and other cruise lines stepped up the number of ships making calls in Hawaii on longer itineraries....
